Huntsman Wins Key SC Newspaper Endorsement By Jo Ling Kent, NBC News
CHARLESTON, SC -- Former Utah governor Jon Huntsman won the endorsement of South Carolina's largest newspaper, The State, on Sunday morning. The announcement comes six days before the Palmetto State primary as Huntsman attempts to quickly gain last- minute traction after spending very little time in the state. Huntsman finished a distant third in the New Hampshire primary after campaigning there for nearly six months straight.
This is the second time Huntsman has been endorsed by a major newspaper with just days to go before an early state primary this cycle. Shortly before the New Hampshire primary, the Boston Globe also backed the former ambassador to China. Like the Globe, The State praises both Huntsman and former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney but stops short of endorsing the front-runner. advertisement
"There are actually two sensible, experienced grownups," The State editorial said, giving a nod to front-runner Romney. "And while Mr. Romney is far more appealing than any of the other choices, former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman is more principled, has a far more impressive resume and offers a significantly more important message." The State, which endorsed Barack Obama and John McCain in the 2008 primary and McCain in that year's general election, said Huntsman stands "heads and shoulders above the field on foreign policy," praised his economic recovery plan and called his terms as Utah governor demonstrative of a "true conservative" record.

Timing is everythi.......
Just in time for him dropping out.
And I know up till now that I was having orgasms in the thought of pulling the lever for Huntsman. And it would’ve happened if it hadn’t have been for those pesky conservatives. /sarcasm. :-)
Huntsman is an ego looking for applause. He sold out to Red China a long time ago (ask Falun Gong), so now he’s out of the race, ‘he’s gone’.
Well put.
So now their choise is Romney?
I like Huntsman but apparently most Republican voters don’t. They seem to like Romney. We at FR can scream all we want, but Romney appears to be the man. Despite our efforts they didn’t like our candidates. That’s the way it is. Romney will get the prize. It was never really in doubt.
:-)
I doubt it.
Clips of Huntsman on CNN tonight; banner says Huntsman: Country First.
Sound familiar? McCain-Palin 08 slogan
Huntsman aides have been feverishly scrubbing his anti-Mitt ads and websites of potentially embarrassing material now that he’s endorsed Mitt.
Trouble is, stuff like that rarely completely disappears from the web. Huntsman’s anti-Mitt stuff will be making a repeat appearance REAL soon...
Appearances can be deceiving...
What a helpful remark, full of moderation, resignation and willingness to settle, entirely void of fight, or energy to wage one.
Please, for your own sake, stay off the field. One could get run over around here.
I was going to vote for him because he had the hottest wife.
Wow. Bet that hurts their circulation.
Hunstman to endorse his cousin (seriously), Willard.
After Obama I have to say I’m receptive to the idea of having an adult in the office.
I think we all know that day is long gone. We also know that things like the GOP presidential candidate debates have provided convincing evidence that the media moderator/interrogators are really incredibly biased and simply incompetent as questioners (I offer George Stephanopolous and Diane Sawyer as proof, and immediately rest my case.)
Do people really vote for a candidate just because some person, business or organization endorsed him?
