9-9-9: The key to GOP victory
The Hill ^ | January 11,2012 | Dick Morris

Posted on 01/16/2012 11:30:32 AM PST by Hojczyk

Cain is planning a new effort to promote his 9-9-9 plan now that his candidacy is over. It could not come at a better time for the Republican Party. (Those wishing to join should go to

cainconnection.com.) He is doing a bus tour and making the rounds on television shows to push his substantive agenda and, in the process, breathe enthusiasm back into Republican ranks.

The 9-9-9 plan will satisfy the libertarian impulse that underscores Paul’s appeal, particularly to the young. It will simplify the tax code so that it is a means of raising government revenue, not of promoting social engineering. Tax laws won’t tell us what to buy, where to invest and how to live. Instead, 9-9-9 will leave these decisions to each us.

It offers an agenda to repair the flaws in the economy that led to the stagnation of the late years of the last decade before Obama even arrived on the scene. It will make America a land of incredible business opportunity, luring innovators and job creators to the nation with what would then be the lowest maximum personal income tax rate on earth. The repeal of the capital gains tax would eliminate the barrier that stands between innovation and capital and would encourage the kind of explosion of economic growth that we need.

If Romney is to be the nominee, he needs a better message than his current reliance on his private-sector credentials and his desire to oust the current administration. His flat tax ideas have not ignited a wave of enthusiasm, nor will they. They are yesterday’s ideas. He needs 9-9-9. The Republican Party needs it. And America needs it as well.

I don’t blame Herman Cain for dropping out, but wish had stayed in the race. The charges against him had no evidence. He had many good ideas.

Only works if he backtracks on the “no taxes for low income” BS.

As I stated on a previous Cain thread... “I knew that he was guilty when I saw Ginger White.” You see, back in the day, she would have been called a “High Yellow Black Child”. Believe me, they got all of the attention. This is coming from a street wise and professional, 66 years young, black male.

All of the stories on Cain would have came out.

999, 989, 777, 789, whatever.

Whether it’s Fair Tax or Flat Tax or Progressive Tax and Social engineering like we have now, all those arguments are strictly limited to HOW TO COLLECT Federal Taxes for spending.

Each is a system of knobs for the politicians to tune and fiddle with to RAISE money.

None of them address all the knobs they have to SPEND.

As long as the Federal Government takes such a large portion of the GDP, it doesn’t matter HOW you collect it.

I’m sorry to hear that. He had a lot of good ideas and if he were a DemocRAT, it wouldn’t be a problem.

Any such addition to taxes would only feed the regulators and take us further into socialism. No!

Too late. It's Romney.

Whoever chose to start using the keyword "worstprimaryever" (or similar) was spot on.

The more you look at 9-9-9, the worse it is. It’s a really, really dumb idea.

Yes, by all means simplify the tax code and lower rates. But this is NOT the way to do it. It just introduces MORE federal taxes, and you can be damned sure that the politicians will soon be raising them. A 9% national sales tax? No, thanks.

It is also biased against people living on retirement income.

If that is the case, you wonder why Cain even ran. He knew this stuff would surface and cause him to lose and have problems at home.

He was already wealthy and had a platform...he could have made money and sold books just from his previous success.

How much was Dick Morris paid to write this? Everyone knows he is a whore for hire. Remember this when he runs “ads” later this year and you get an email asking to donate to “run” it. It is all a fraud, believe me.

Yes, but a “High Yellow” woman, will get you. They were the sly, slick, and the wicket. She made her money. She got “payed” as they say today.
