Oops. I’m not holding Dobson blameless, but let’s get real. A group of social conservatives and Evangelicals are having a discussion at a meeting to decide who is the best candidate for them to support.

Any such dicussion is bound to consider all the pros and cons.

Dobson didn’t go on TV and say this. He raised the point at a meeting. And why shouldn’t he? They have to consider all the negatives, because whoever gets nominated will certainly find these issues brought home to them by the press.

As several have noted, it’s not Dobson but Politico who took this public, with the ususal propaganda meme about mean Christian Conservatives.

Unbelievable! First Lady is not an elected position. In fact, it is such nonsense for “The First Lady” to have any special role or duties at all.

We don’t need no stinkin’ first lady! The current one has been the last straw.

This guy Dobson is the classic holier-than-thou idiot.
He might as well be working for Obama.
Santorum (not my choice) does NOT need him in his corner.
I know I heard Santorum say how thrilled he was to get this
group’s ringing endorsement.
I love the way things are falling out.
This makes Newt once again the subject of personal attacks
by people who don’t even deserve to be part of the political
process.
Scratch Santorum off your list.
He’s become party to the get rid of Newt campaign.
He’s trading his silence for reassurance that he’ll get a
big boost from the so-called evangelical vote.
Wish this guy would just go away, and now I can’t even force myself to muster ANY affection for Santorum.

Who are the sources? This looks like a hit piece designed to create chaos if nothing else. I believe Newt went to Dobson to get some sort of absolution back in ‘07 and Dobson was condemned by some on the Right then for giving it. So it just doesn't pass the smell test. It's like the puke piece on Karen Santorum. When the sources give their names and when they don't turn out to be in a political camp that didn't like the outcome, I'll believe it.

Jim Dobson has been an admirer of Santorum for a very long time. Santorum has consistently held positions that Dr. Dobson did. So, I would expect him to come out in support of Santorum.

However, I am a little surprised about the comment about Newt’s wife. That doesn’t strike me as something Dr. Dobson would say publically. He is getting old and no longer runs “Focus on the Family.” Maybe age is causing him to lose the ability to not say what he is thinking.

Whatever, don’t be too hard on Dr. Dobson. He has fought a long hard fight. I thought him and Newt were OK...I guess this isn’t so....IF the reports are true.

I always thought Dobson was self righteous and a self promoter who knew how to jerk evangelicals chains for whatever purposes.

I unfortunately, encountered many like him in the 90s. It is too much power for a man to handle, and it is ultimately and almost always abused.

I would like to know when my fellow Freepers will stop giving Politico hits.

Can someone please tell me the difference between politico and the National Inquirer?

Please, please, please quit giving Politico any credibility. Conservatives, and especially FReepers need to just ignore them, because all they do is write hit pieces that divide and conquer us.

I’m not voting for First Lady. Newt’s indiscretions aside, and Santorum’s virtues considered, the important thing is who can beat Obama, and who can best lead America back to greatness.

James Dobson needs to seek the face of YHvH
and ask for forgiveness for his arrogance and pride.

He is a sinner as are all created beings.

“Incredible. Let he who is without sin... “

.....skip getting an annulment or two before running for president.

I don’t think anyone is arguing the forgiveness of sins, as much as the inevitable (and required) earthly accountability for them that goes along with it. I’m assuming Newt took care of that, too.

In politics, however there is no requirement to withhold stones, daggers, and hand-grenades for someone elses sins.

I wish Newt had gotten an annulment for all the marriages to liberal causes he’s entered into the past. We don’t really know what liberal mistresses he presently is boinking either - but he’s been spotted with sneaking around with that floozy “Amnesty”.

Spare me the sympathy for Callista. If she couldn’t handle the criticism of screwing a politician, she should have convinced him not to run for President. I’m thinking this is the only way she’ll ever obtain the title “Lady” in any form that didn’t involve also sleeping with Prince Charles - which I wouldn’t totally rule out if Newt doesn’t get the nomination.

FYI

a small part of info on Calista-

“devoted Catholic, she is a member of the Choir of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., a resident professional choir. In March of 2005, the Choir visited Rome, Italy to honor Pope John Paul II, and recorded a compact disc entitled Pope John Paul II: A Celebration of Life and Faith. In April of 2008, the Choir sang for the Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, during his Apostolic Journey to the United States. In November of 2008, the Choir participated in the International Festival of Sacred Music and Art in Rome, Italy.

Callista plays the French horn with the City of Fairfax Band in Fairfax, Virginia, promoting musical growth and education among area residents and students. The Band performs frequently in Fairfax, Virginia, and the Washington, D.C. area. The City of Fairfax Band is a recipient of the John Philip Sousa Foundation’s Sudler Silver Scroll Award. The Sudler Silver Scroll is regarded to be North America’s most prestigious award for community concert bands.
...Callista graduated Cum Laude and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music with a concentration in Public Communication from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. While at Luther College, she was a Pi Kappa Lambda Member and Regents Scholar.”

Among many other thing -

Has ANYONE bothered to look this up? Is the media silent, hoping no one finds out how accomplished she is? It hardly fits their agenda, after all -

Individual voters can decide what is pertinent and what isn’t when it comes to being president
