As for the Bible, I've been spending so much of my life with a technical translator that I recognize that the original Word of God has been corrupted by mistakes, if not by outright manipulation, to compound the misunderstanding caused by the drift and evolution of the meaning of words.

The *original* implies the first, which cannot have been corrupted as it is the *original*. However, anything coming after that has the potential to be corrupted.

Granted there are translations of the original which could be better, but if you throw out the original, there is nothing left to go to or build on.

Don't fall for the lie of *Hath God really said....?*

If you don't want to do church as usual, look into a ministry which does what God has called us to do, reach out and make disciples.

One such ministry I recently found out about in Central NY (CNY) is this.....

Matthew 25 Farm

"I am also convinced that the church in the book of Acts would not even recognize what is called church today."

This is nothing new. Paul, Peter and John all warn about apostate churches and leaders. In the first and second centuries alone there were the churches of the Marcionites, the Valentinians, the Montanists and various gnostic offshoots. This will always be a challenge as Satan works hard to corrupt the bride of Christ. But there have always been faithful Churches too and there still are many, many today. This is a battle each generation of Christians must wage - But we don't just withdraw into ourselves and give up on the Church because we happened to be burn by a bad one.

Nah...Protestant Bibles contain more than 5% error, compared to the Catholic Bible they watered down.

Nobody watered anything down.

Here.....

http://bible.cc/genesis/1-1.htm

You can compare all the versions verse by verse, including the Catholic Bible, which has its own translation errors. In addition, there are links to the original Hebrew and Greek for word studies.

When you add to that, the notion that the Holy Spirit reveals different interpretations, to each of us individually, the compounded error rate is astounding.

A notion only in the imagination of Catholics. The Holy Spirit does not reveal different interpretations. He cannot contradict Himself as God cannot lie and cannot change.

I have friends with this opinion, and don’t express it as strongly with them, but...

it is absolutely ABSURD to think that your children are going to be a Christian influence within the secular indoctrination center and not be instead influenced by it.

The mud puddle doesn’t get any cleaner when you put a white glove in it.

I run into people all the time that still think that biblical translations are “a game of telephone” where errors get propagated with each subsequent translation.

The prince of this world has successfully propagated this lie.

The truth is that every translation goes back to the original text in the Greek or Hebrew, and there are no significant errors in the translations.

However, there was a bit of a problem with the Catholic translation where the route to salvation was misinterpreted as “do penance” instead of “repent”.

Thanks for the ping.

What curse was it that those men called down on the US? I never heard that before.

The Holy Spirit does not reveal different interpretations. He cannot contradict Himself as God cannot lie and cannot change.

I agree!

Please explain that to the 13,000 different Protestant denominations.

That's more than a minor translation error. I did a word study on that and looked up the word *repent* in Greek and it means..... repent.

And your authoritative source for determining the number of Protestant denominations is????

And does that imply that you consider that there are 13,000 different interpretations of Scripture?

Please show me ONE verse that has more than TWO different interpretations.

You can work on the 13,000 later.

You don’t really want to see how it will. Just imagine every act a demented mind can think up.

OK. What was it those men said that brought down that curse?

That’s what I was wondering.

OK. What was it those men said that brought down that curse?

That’s what I was wondering.

They repeated the exact same curse that
the nation of Israel used word for word.
Isaiah 9:9 .....Asserting in pride and in arrogance of heart:

Isaiah 9:10 "The bricks have fallen down,
But we will rebuild with smooth stones;

The sycamores have been cut down,
But we will replace them with cedars."

Ten years after the initial breach
the nation of Israel was attacked
and overrun by the Assyrians.
Half the nation was captured
and taken off to imprisonment.

September 2001 plus ten years is September 2011.

Look up !

I would say turning ‘you shall not murder’ into ‘you shall not kill’ is a signigicant and destructive error.
