Obama Admin Decides to Require Religious Institutions to Cover Free Contraception

Liberals are crowing about what they see as a huge victory for them — and they are right — because this victory comes at the expense of religious liberty.

Welcome to the Obama 2012 reelection plan: ignore and marginalize people of faith, pander to the far-left’s sexual-political priorities.

This via the far-left site ThinkProgress

Today, in a huge victory for women’s health, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced that most employers will be required to cover contraception in their health plans, along with other preventive services, with no cost-sharing such as co-pays or deductibles. This means that after years of trying to get birth control covered to the same extent that health plans cover Viagra, our country will finally have nearly universal coverage of contraception.

Opponents of contraception had lobbied hard for a broad exemption that would have allowed any religiously-affiliated employer to opt out of providing such coverage. Fortunately, the Obama administration rejected that push and decided to maintain the narrow religious exemption that it initially proposed. Only houses of worship and other religious nonprofits that primarily employ and serve people of the same faith will be exempt. Religiously-affiliated employers who do not qualify for the exemption and are not currently offering contraceptive coverage may apply for transitional relief for a one-year period to give them time to determine how to comply with the rule.

The media shields him, and he has a majority in the Senate.

Not to mention the “white guilt factor”.

How does our Fed. get the power to enforce this if the company in question does not take Fed. funds?

What a company offers for insurance is none of the Fed. business unless they volunteer for the strings to tie themselves up via the conditions attached to Fed. contracts.
O’bammy’s law is unconstitutional, so that does NOT excuse this.

I am not a Catholic but when The LORD said be fruitful and multiply it was because He wants faith filled people to populate the earth. If we don't multiply they will and through multiplication they will end up dominating the world. Not a good idea at all, for one thing they will diminish the ranks of His people and they will bring forth progeny to increase the population of hell by great amounts. Children born to populate hell is a heinous thing.

Not only should we be fruitful and multiply through the first birth but Christians are called to be multiplied through the preaching of The Gospel to every creature. When people of all cultures, religions and races are born into the true Kingdom of God hell is diminished and His Kingdom increases.

Genesis 9:7 And you, be ye fruitful, and multiply; bring forth abundantly in the earth, and multiply therein.

Psalms 127:3 Lo, children [are] an heritage of the LORD: [and] the fruit of the womb [is his] reward. ______________________________________________

1Corintheans 1:21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

But because of the wedge between Protestants/Orthodox and Catholics on contraception, by using “contraception” this way they are able to divide the pro-life movement. Some prolifers at least are going to think, “contraception,” shoot, that’s a Catholic hobby horse, no concern of mine.

Nope, this "Protestant" isn't fooled. Any contraception that has abortifacient properties as backup is no different than abortion. Women should be and must be educated about this salient fact. As a Pro-Lifer, and one for over thirty years, I know the difference as does much of the movement.

Not all contraception is the same. For those opposed to killing a human being in the womb, any contraception that prevents implantation of an embryo is in fact abortifacient. This includes most all birth control pills, IUDs, hormonal implants and others that do the same thing. Condoms, cervical caps, diaphragms or spermicides to not allow fertilization to occur - or aren't supposed to anyway. Many women do not read the fine print that comes with their contraception of choice and some omit such information. Shouldn't women and men know if something they are doing is causing death to a human life?

I agree it would be useful information. I only mentioned condoms and cervical caps since I know they prevent fertilization from occurring.

I agree sex ed should be a parent’s responsibility. However, many of the parents of teens who become pregnant are not responsible people, or are so overwhelmed working 2 or more jobs as a single parent to supply such information if they even knew the correct information. Thus the article I saw in which 50% of pregnant teens did not know that they could get pregnant having sex when they did.

Exactly. If you kill the youngest, you will kill the old and disabled as well.

re: coverage

No, because women are too stupid to close their legs due to lack of self-esteem (or attempting to be men or live as they think men do, no responsibility) and some men as well as women lack responsibility or thought of consequences beforehand.

A parent knows the maturity of their children and when they’re ready to be talked to on sex. How many schools do you know without sex ed or include it in health class?

And please send me that study re: half of teen pregnancies due to sex ignorance. How many are due to sexual practice after the thoughts are put in their heads... do they have a percentage for that? Give a boy a condom, he’ll go all out to use it, realize it would feel better without it, will have sex without it. Does the sex-ed teacher raise the resulting child or even babysit? The problem is the brainwashing of the state raising our children; It’s outside their perview. Reading, writing, arithmetic, critical thinking... if they concentrated on that (which they haven’t, obviously), instead of getting into the students sexual or non-sexual lives, the world would be a better place.

The right takes care of kids through their personal money. Charity isn’t forced.

BTW, those where men in the Supreme Court the lawyers brought their fake cases too (Roe and Doe). Tell everyone here how the pill came about (Puerto Rico studies, lies that it was to help ‘fertility’ and the outcome); How McCorvey of Roe and Cano of Doe came to be in those cases, the outcome and truth of the situations and where they are now; How an abortion or contraception contributes to ‘health’ (note the warnings on the packs); How much conservatives vs. liberals give to causes not from ‘someone elses money’, but their own (check the comparisons) and tell me how many young women have died from the latest ‘contraception’ out there.

Are you also for forced sterilization? It was here in over thirty states; Was that control over women’s bodies? Did you know Ernst Rudin was published in Birth Control Review (Sanger’s) re: Eugenic Sterilization and Lothrop Stoddard was on her board? Did you know Leon Whitney (Am. Eugenics Society, her comrade), was asked by Hitler for his book and also Madison Grant and after receiving it called it the bible? That was the early thirties... we see how that panned out; Less than eight years later in 1940 he had euthanized over 5000 handicapped kids.

Don’t get me started on Kinsey, sexual deviant who wanted anything goes because of his sado-masochism (I would tell you more from his childhood on, it would make you sick). The story behind Masters and Johnson’s lives and sex studies (that would be your sex ed pioneers).
I could go on for days. When non-terminal Schiavo was starved to death for 13 days many didn’t give it a thought or see the connection; I suggest you study the past and how we got to where we are.

Do you volunteer at an orphanage, after-school programs, home for mothers or take someone’s child to give them a break? Do you go to shop for the kids clothes or provide teacher friends as well as families kids with school supplies every year?

I don’t hear those ‘women’ citing the rape and molestation of minors covered up by Planned Parenthood or caring about sex traffic of women. I don’t see them marching against offenders being let out light.

And how on earth can anyone control the ‘knowledge’ of women, much less anyone.

Then we wonder why kids shoot up schools, kill their parents, rape and have no regard for women, they’re survivors of the abortionist’s scalpel... it could have been them, hence their lives don’t mean anything. When you say ‘I don’t want you punished with a baby’ in front of your children or even go get your daughter birth control, don’t you see to them it’s negating their existence? If you don’t want them ‘punished with a baby’, obviously they feel you were punished with them. We have made ourselves objects instead of being what we are, truly feminine in it’s entirety. We ask where the real men are while taking their manhood away.

Don’t you realize the power over you (not in you), by you taking the pill (there are natural ways without the side effects used for centuries).

Just like you don’t want anyone in your bedroom, don’t ask someone else to provide for your clueless behavior and lack of thought before, during or after your ‘private’ act. Your employer doesn’t sleep with you. Just like I can’t go to the sex-ed teacher who gave my son condoms or took my daughter to the DOH for BC pills and sue when my kids weren’t mature enough and someone got pregnant. If you could drop off babies to those classrooms or sue them for support, it would stop quick.

I suggest you read all those who led up to this point and what they did in THEIR lives. How many kids did they have; How was their marriage; How did they feel about mom and dad/how they were raised; How did it turn out; What were their reasons for what they did. Read the sexual libertines personal upbringing, family and sexual lives and get back to me. BTW, a lot of them lied under the maternity or helping marriages mantra to get their views out, while wanting to destroy these very things. Something to think about.

This separates sex from love and opened Pandora’s box. Now life and love mean nothing.

It’s long past time for churches to abandon their 501-3c shotgun wedding to the government.

Real separation of church from state should begin in the church itself.

501-3c status makes the church a surrogate of the government, all for tax-free status.

The government has threatened to rescind 501-3c status for non-compliant churches.

Let them.

We should not be giving to churches and charities because we can get a tax benefit, anyway.

Once again, the obamanation administration tramples the constitutional guarantee of separation of the powers of church and state in the first amendment of the Bill of Rights. Their depraved desire is to destroy human rights and freedoms given by God's Christ to the children of men.
The wages of sin is death, which these monsters will learn at their judgment by the true God and Judge of all men, Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour.
It is appointed to a man once to die, and then the judgment.

Actually the “Christians” that voted for Obama were either dead or almost dead and couldn’t communicate.

If you are black and you are a Christian, you need to decide which of the two is more important to you because they are in diametric opposition to one another. You have to come to grips with this black man in the white house that attacks all things Christian. Think about it seriously. Is your love for Jesus more important to you than your love of Obama?
