Rick Santorum declared Iowa winner
The Politico ^ | January 21, 2012 | Reid J. Epstein

GREENVILLE, S.C. — On the eve of the South Carolina primary, Iowa Republicans dealt Mitt Romney’s campaign a blow by formally declaring Rick Santorum the winner of their Jan. 3 caucuses.

At 18 minutes before midnight Friday, South Carolina time, the Republican Party of Iowa released a statement revising its Thursday announcement that reported Santorum ahead of Romney but also saying the two-week-old race had no clear winner.

“In order to clarify conflicting reports and to affirm the results released January 18 by the Republican Party of Iowa, Chairman Matthew Strawn and the State Central Committee declared Senator Rick Santorum the winner of the 2012 Iowa Caucus,” the state GOP’s statement read.

The news that Romney — who for two weeks celebrated what he jokingly called a ‘landslide’ eight-vote victory in Iowa, only to see it reversed this week when the state GOP certified Santorum the leader by 34 votes — officially lost the first contest muddies his narrative, especially as Newt Gingrich surges in the polls in South Carolina...

Huh?! When Mr. Romney was ahead by eight votes, he was the "clear winner". Now, Mr. Santorum is ahead by over 30, and there's "no clear winner"?! I swear, I'll never understand this "progressive/liberal" math.

Rebellion is brewing!!

We should rebuild the grassroots conservative movement. From the Reagan Revolution of 1980 through the Contract with America in 1994, it was this movement from outside Washington that carried us to the first center-right majority governing coalition in more than 60 years.

The problem has not been with conservatism or with our voters.

The problem has been with Republican leaders who forgot who elected them and what values their supporters expected to see implemented in Washington.

The sad part about all this is Santorum never got his just reward—Instead Mitt and the media coasted right into N.H.

Somebody check my numbers.

121,501 showed up at the cauci.

There were 1774 precincts.

Mitt got about 24.5% of the precincts reported, so did Rick.

Rick got 34 more votes than did Mitt.

The average precinct had 68 votes cast. (121,501 divided by 1774)

If eight precincts were missing that would be (averaged out) 544 votes.

If Mitt got 28% of those that would be 152.

If Rick got 22% of those that would be 119.

I know that this is all about figures lie and liars figure, but that would leave Rick ahead by 1 vote,

Did your's count????

I’m a Newt supporter and have my own issues w/ Rick S. regarding his record and stances. However, this is another glaring example of the blue blood, RNC manipulation of the conservative electorate with pay to play politics. How many weeks did we have to endure Rove and the Republican elite in trying to anoint Mitt just as the DNC did w/ Obama. “There hasn’t been a candidate to win the first two states” blah blah blah.

As If we didn’t need another example of there being strangers in OUR HOUSE.
This is a multiple front battle

Primary wins:

Conservatives: 1 (Santorum)

Socialists: 1 (Romney 1, Gingrich 0)

Big government Newt has ALL the media attention, and still is losing to Santorum.)

Of course, the only reason Gingrich is in the primary is so he can make a global warming movie and win the Nobel Prize. Why doesn't he just leave and go one his climate change jihad now.

Your response is quite ironic given all the criticism of Santorum on this board that says he acts like a “petulant teen.”

“real deal starts in 5 hours”.

Ah, I don’t think so.
ANOTHER open primary state where the D’s get to vote for the R most likely to fail.
Also being penalized for moving their date, after all, their open primary is just SO damn important. (NOT!)

Not sure if Florida is any less ridiculous, they ALSO jumped the gate, I can only hope so.

Nevada Feb. 4th., a real primary caucus, but probably in the bag for Rotney as he will have the mormon vote sewn up.
Just like Dingy Reid, as both of them do not separate politics and religion when it’s to their advantage.
