Thousands have flocked to watch a fake presidential rally held by comedian Steve Colbert and one-time Republican presidential frontrunner Herman Cain in Charleston, South Carolina. And in an interesting twist, the crowd, comprised mostly of students, was far larger audience than any at an actual rally during this year's election cycle in the state.

Herman Cain, whose presidential campaign was plagued - and finished - by a string of accusations of sexual misconduct, appeared alongside

and people actually saw this guy as a serious candidate for President.

I sure as hell didn't, and got insulted for supporting the Governor of the Great State of Texas.

I thought Cain was a grifter from the get go.

He knew less on foreign policy than my cats. Nein, Nein, Nein, sucked, sucked, sucked with it's impoverisment zones for those of a preferred race.

I was continually disappointed in my fellow Freepers who bought his shtick, were so easily fooled, and so passionate in their support for the self promoting media whore.

“This really does make him look stupid. He thinks they are laughing with him. Really they are laughing at him.”

Unfortunately Cain was aided and abetted by a number of prominent “conservative” fellow talk show hosts. Sean Hannity led the pack. It was a disgrace. Hannity looks like a fool now too but he'll deny everything.

I’ve vented enough. I feel better. I think a lot of the posters who attacked Perry supporters were trolls. I know they did a number on me. At one point I had to leave FR for a week or risk getting banned for saying something untoward.

I’m proud of the governor for demonstrating decorum and good will. He remains a gentleman and impressive. Thanks to Anita and the kids too.
Ciao, All.

I know, and even among conservatives. Oh, the sing-song rhyming thing....I couldn’t deal with it. It reminded me of an old-time quack selling Dr. Fortnoy’s Miracle Liniment out of the back of his wagon. “Cures gout, brain tumors, and everything in between!”

“He is still on the ballot in S.C. and in florida. I can think of no reason he shouldn’t try for a few votes. Thank Heaven he is still in good shape after the rotten things this administration did to him. I wish him all the luck in the sorld.”

Let’s not forget, Herman did a lot to himself. Personally, I think he’s a rather nasty piece of work.

“Can anyone on this board explain to me how Perry had the greatest response of all his debates, coming in only second to Newt in the first SC debate, and Perry’s numbers waned?

It truly is a fickle public, and I do harbor some ill will toward Cain for playing up the race card on Perry, and blaming Perry for his women troubles.”

In agreement on all counts here. People could see how great Perry had become at debating. And he was exactly what conservatives say they value in all other respects, so WTH? It seems a lot of folks on the right tend to get behind the “popular” one, rather than choosing on principles and then backing the candidate so his numbers WILL go up. Frustrating, still.

And yeah, IMO Herman showed himself to be an ass, despite all the posing with Bibles during Christmas and painting himself as such a great Christian. When he went on Imus the other day and said Perry was weak on the issues-—are you kidding me, LOL? He always had it in for Perry.

“When this asshat ripped Perry over the fence with his stupid BS, some of us called him on it, and he just said “i was joking” He walked away with no damage to himself while making an unfair attack on a good candidate.

In the end he adopted Perrys stance on the border and nobody in the media said “WTF”

Screw Herman Cain. HE knows how to play that his race places him above scrutiny.
Shame on him.”

Exactly. I’ll never forget the way he worked the rock thing to his advantage, played the racial victim, and then dismissed it. A decent man would have apologized for such accusations, but he never did.

Hannity isn’t the sharpest tool in the box. He’s at his best when he’s tossing his football.

When I think of Obama and his lack of executive experience and the fact that he didn’t serve in the military, I’m reminded that Perry is an executive and he did serve.

You’d think those two qualities would garner him more support from the electorate. We’re electing a president, not someone to be on American Idol.

Thank you. It would have been nice to have had a real commander in chief, who’s worn the uniform and has earned to right to have those Marines’ salutes.

Closely follwed by Cavuto, who is STILL kissing up to HC.

I saw a few minutes of Cain on Fox this am. He tried to explain what he was up to partnering with a liberal comedian but he wasn’t very coherent.

Honey, he was never coherent. I always thought he was a joke and, apparently, his run for POTUS was a joke. It did help him sell some books though.

Wonder if Herman figured out he`s the butt of the whole joke yet?

He will find out when Colbert claims all the votes for Cain as HIS. You see, what makes this so sick is that Colbert is asking people to vote for him in the name of Herman Cain (still on the ballot in S.C.).

Colbert and Cain have teamed up to mock our electoral process. That is truly despicable territory they have entered.

Well stated and true.

Also 999 called on the "Super Committee" for its implementation. I maintain that the Super Committee is an abomination to representation.

Herman Cain was just so wrong on so many fundamentals it was ridiculous.

Then Perry got beat the hell up when he lead all the other candidates on fundamental issues of states rights.

I said, “He’s gone shooting with Perry”
