CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV)-- Mitt Romney took the stage in front of hundreds of supporters and thanked them for their help in taking second place in South Carolina.
"Thank you so very much," he said to the crowd. "You should hear it when we win!"
He went on to thank South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley and his campaign staff and told the people of South Carolina that he owed them "so much."
But in the end, it was another candidate who walked away with the primary win.
"I want to congratulate speaker Gingrich for a hard fought race," said Romney. "Tomorrow we move on to Florida."
Romney then focused on Obama and how he feels we should fix the country saying that the stakes have never been higher and that this election is a "battle for the soul of America."
"I want to make federal government simpler, smaller, smarter and I will do it."
He promised to repeal Obamacare before going on to point out the shortcomings of his opponents.
"Our party can't be lead to victory by someone who has also never run a business."
Even though he's congratulated Gingrich for a win in South Carolina, Romney continues to look forward to the other primaries.
"I will compete in every state. We are going to win this nomination and defeat President Obama in November," he said. "The American people will be looking for a real choice in this campaign and I will provide it."
With the crowd chanting his name, Mitt Romney left the stage shaking hands and saying "Thank you."
“Romney concedes to Gingrich in SC GOP Primary,”
GOOD! Now drop out of the race Romney. We don’t need your type of flakiness.
Yeah Newt!
True Dat! Big kudos to Perry and as Palin just said(YOU haven’t started a thread yet on what Palin JUST SAID I am shocked!)She gave Perry kudos and said he took one for the team she liked Santorum’s speech and he should stay in.
I certainly hope so. I was very wrong in my prediction of the SC primary. I stuck my neck out and predicted a Gingrich win of 6-8%. Looks like I was off by a factor of 2!
YIPPEE!!!
YOU SUCK MITT!!!
Link?
I am as happy about Gingrich’s win as alterPaul’s fourth/last place.
Trouble is, Newt is one blow up away from disaster.
Not to mention they will push his three marriages, and infidelity
I do hope this is the last time we see Romeny on the national stage! He really is a turn off - That plastic smile and the weird way he watches his other contenders on a debate stage. It is just a scary weird look! I am surprised his handlers did not Bi%ch slap him and tell him not to do that!
If Romney was running against McCain he probably would be dropping out about now, just like he did in 2008. Now that he has a couple of more conservative opponents to run against he has suddenly found the fire within his belly to fight on. If Romney does win the GOP nomination he will probably drop out of the race upon the first accusation of racism by Team Obama.
I will go now and say what I did a month ago.. the candidate who beat Romney in SC I will back toally.. NEWT GIGRICH.. it’s all over people
I think Mitt ought to quickly switch parties, he could probably beat Obama in the Democratic Primary. Just sayin’.
She just said it five minutes ago.I thought you have the direct link to Palin? She was also very energized for Newt and very professional and composed.
I call on Romney to do the right thing and drop out.
