Early voting begins slowly in South Florida

With the field of Republican candidates down to four, GOP voters trickled to the polls on the first day of early voting in South Florida with plenty of opinions about their choice to challenge President Barack Obama in November.

Many said they were deciding between former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich in what has been a rollercoaster race.

Romney is ahead in Florida, with more than 40 percent of GOP supporters, followed by Gingrich with 22 percent, Sen. Rick Santorum with 15 percent and Texas Rep. Ron Paul with 9 percent, according to an average of poll results compiled by RealClearPolitics.com.

It’s a good thing it was delayed until now. With his big win announced in South Carolina, Newt should have a much stronger hand over Mitt than he would have earlier, when the media could pretend that Mitt had it sewn up.

Even with momentum out of SC, it's going to be hard to stop Romney in FL but that doesn't mean we give up on the state.

The non-Romney forces need funds to compete.

Article is incorrect. I just received the sample ballot in the mail for Hillsborough County, Florida and it has nine candidates listed: Michele Bachmann, Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich, Jon Huntsman, Gary Johnson, Ron Paul, Rick Perry, Mitt Romney, and Rick Santorum.

Interesting. No Mitt.

I haven’t really been keeping track of it, but it seems to me that Mitt has been running for several years now, raising and spending tons of money. He was the only definite candidate out there for quite a while.

Yet he hasn’t appeared all that often on camera. Maybe he prefers to have the media and the GOP Establishment constantly pushing him, but wants to avoid too much face time.

I may be wrong about that, since I really don’t watch any TV, and most of what I know about Romney’s doings I read here in FR.

early voting at the polls start this week....mail in ballots went out the last week in December, many have voted already..like me and my hubby.
Mail in ballots must be received one month before the primary date....I voted 2 weeks ago.
