CITRA A foot-long alligator that looked beat up and dehydrated on the side of the road landed in a man's bathtub to be nursed back to health. But the efforts of good Samaritan Alexander Springer landed him in jail and charged with a second-degree misdemeanor.

Alligators - to them, we’re just a meal, or a future meal after they get a little bigger.
“.... if the alligator had bitten someone, a toxic bacteria they carry can cause death if not treated quickly with an antibiotic...”
And all this time I thought it was the teeth that were the problem LOL.
Next time...make a belt!!
Grins knowingly - there are no “Gator fans” FRiend, only Gators ;) :)
May God grant us strength and wisdom, and COURAGE.

P.S. Yes, I do live in Georgia; but rest assured, we are indeed Gators :)
Our FR resident Gators’ fan is sure to respond to this. :-)
Next time maybe he will show his compassion by killing it and putting it out of its misery.

Go Gators. Freepers there are real gators in Okefenokee Swamp—real big ones! LA, SC, NC coastal areas and swamps.
Gators are everywhere! And, they taste like chicken.
Play a little football,too.
I respect the man and his efforts, but alligators do not have the brain functions for returning altruism. In fact, alligators tend to confuse the feeder with the food, so all this did was train the alligator that humans are food. One more case where a Disney inspired outlook will get someone hurt.
Liar.
I live in Citra!
I wonder if he regrets just running over the reptile.
Many’s the time I’ve sat down with a gator to discuss compassion.
“Wally.....what are your thoughts on compassion?”
“YOUAREFOODYOUAREFOODYOUAREFOODYOUAREFOODYOUAREFOOD.”
They’re not as philosophical as possums, though.
I actually had a philosophical encounter with a gator, a big gator. Based on the formula of the distance of the eyes to nose is a function of the length, in scales developed from several good photos, it was at least 12 feet long.
As we hiked the Lost road Trail on Cumberland Island National Sea Shore we traversed a rather narrow stretch of dunes between the swamps on either side. In days gone by, these fresh water marshes were rice patties. They are now home to all sorts of big bad creatures.
Then the encounter. There sprawled in the middle of the trail was the big gator. No problem I thought it will move. It did not. As a matter of fact, as I approached it looked right at me and hissed. This was very disconcerting to my retired minister friend. He stepped back a good ways.
Having encountered gators before, I knew that noises and clamor made them nervous and they would slither off. I started yelling and beating on my water bottle, but to no avail. More hissing and slight movement of the head in my direction.
I had thrown stuff at gators before with positive results, but alas, on the sandy trail there were no rocks or sticks or even anything to throw. The edge of the trail was a pretty solid wall of palmettos that quickly fell off to the jungley swamp.
My buddy was taking many photos and encouraging me to come back to the relatively more safe place where he stood.
After about 15 minutes or so of failing to dissuade the gator to move from the nice sunny spot in the trail we decided the only course was to reverse course even though it added three miles to our days hike.
The philosophical part is that if you are a very big alligator in the nice sunny only dry spot around and creatures that are big but unidentifiable (not wild horses or deer) insist you move, show your power. Hiss and look terrible and ferocious. You will prevail
My mom, a good ol' boy, and a gator. It was turned over to the fish & wildlife guy who threw it in the back of his SUV to release in the Ocklawaha River.
Theyre not as philosophical as possums, though.
