South Carolina proves that the Tea Party is alive and well – and calling the shots

Mitt Romney has helped re-energise the Tea Party

Just three days ago, many pundits were writing the obituary of the Tea Party. The unstoppable rise of Mitt Romney and the hopeless divisions within the conservative field seemed to suggest that the radical grassroots movement had passed away. The UK’s Guardian newspaper (a sort of Pravda for public sector workers) was gleeful. Ewen MacAskill wrote, “The noise and energy associated with the Tea Party since it exploded on to the US political scene three years has been stilled, overshadowed in recent months by the youthful enthusiasm of the Occupy Wall Street protesters.”...

--snip--

The second condition necessary for a Newt landslide was Mitt Romney. Everything about the man is the antithesis of South Carolina culture: he’s a northern, wealthy, non-WASP centrist. Something that went totally unreported in the media was an email sent out by the Sons of Confederate Veterans group urging Southerners to reject Romney on the basis of his opposition to the flying of the Confederate Stars and Bars flag. In a 2007 debate, he called the flag “divisive” and said that it “shouldn’t be shown” – a perspective that irritates both Southerners and libertarians...

--snip--

Far from Romney’s rise representing the death of the Tea Party, it has actually galvanised it and brought it back out into the open. In truth, it never went away. The mainstream media often makes the mistake of presuming that the Tea Party is a classic vanguard-type organisation, with elected leaders, membership lists and headed notepaper. On the contrary: it is an intangible spirit of revolt that ebbs and flows with the political season. Given the Palmetto State’s reputation for rebellion, it is highly appropriate that it resurfaced in South Carolina. We'll see a lot more of it in the weeks to come.

Even after the SC primary, CNN and MSNBC anchors and anchorettes were crowing over how the Tea Party was supposedly “dead.” They wish!

Amen; thank you God!!! The Conservatives know that we have to climb in the RAT and RINO sewer and fight for our country and fight for our children and grandchildren’s future(s). Everyone I talk to is big-time angry and want them all gone. There is no love out there for the amoral, corrupt Elitist politicians on either side.

We were in stealth mode. But very present in local GOP activities.

Anyone who thinks the power is gone is certainly are not informed of what the grass roots in the GOP are doing.

Just wait, you haven’t seen anything yet.

This is the way it should be. Protests are great eye candy but primarily symbolic. We change things at the ballot box.

Big Mistake the msm and pundits made thinking this was an organized group led by someone........they just don't get it. We don't need meetings etc. its a grass root movement based on values.

Bingo- the phrase “don’t fire til you see the whites of their eyes” comes to mind. I am guessing the first closed primary is now that moment. South Carolina speaks volumes though, as an open primary, there was a potential to slant the vote in either Romneys or Pauls direction, and both are very good at doing so. South Carolina spoke, loud and clear, for the beginning of the tsunami....

My son called me yesterday afternoon from Florida. He and his lovely wife have always voted in elections, but.....never, not once in a Republican Primary Election!!! He said after our chat, the two of them were headed to their polling staion where they will cast early voting ballots, the first Primary votes in their lives. They are both in their late forties!!!

He also told me, that the country is going to be surprised about how badly Obama is hated throughout Florida. Houses underwater, foreclosures, high unemployment, stagnent economy, tourist industry sagging, the construction industry dead in the water, etc., etc.!!! He said the average middle class American is really ticked off and he expects a massive turnout of Republicans, exceeding two million voters will vote in the Republican Primary next week!!! I hope he is right on the money!!!

Every Florida voter that possibly can should get out and vote in that primary. Vote for whoever your personal chice is, whether it is, Newt, Mitt, Rick or Ron, but.....please vote!!! The future of our beloved nation is in the balance!!! We can defeat Obama by producing massive primary votes, the same way the 2010 Mid-Term Primaries was the true harbinger of what is coming. Believe me, Florida voters, if your primary comes in at over 2 million votes next week, Democrats will begin acting to dump Obama!!! There are four million registered Republicans in Florida. Let’s turn out, just about all of them on Tuesday, January 31, 2012!!!

After hearing the black truck driver who called in to Rush and said he wasn’t going to vote for Obama this time because of his stupid stance on the Keystone Pipeline... I am thinking this is going to be a landslide defeat for Obama and the Democrats like we have not seen before. 2010 might only be a shadow of 2012

Representative James Clyburn, Democrat, South Carolina, of the Congressional Black Caucus has morphed into hisfull CYA mode!!! He is moving to protect his behind by pandering up Newt Gingrich in South Carolina!!! He sees the vote numbers!!! They tell the whole story. As far as he is concerned, it is now every Democrat for themselves. He knows Obama is toast!!!

Black Americans and other minorities are not going to vote with Obama as they did in 2008. Some, will actually vote against Obama, but, not many. More likely, millions will just sit on their hands and not vote!!! They have Obama’s number and his flim/flam game that keeps on the slave plantation called Obama Pines!!! The one’s with any common sense or brains, know that another vote for Obama is just another dead end for them!!!

If the Congressional Black Caucus has any real, brother, street sense, they would drop Obama like the bad habit he and his wife, Michelle truly are!!! They won’t, so....they will go down with him and so will the entire Democrat Party. Once I saw the final vote numbers out of South Carolina tallied, and did the demographics, the real “skinny” emerges, Obama is toast....and old man river James Clyburn knows it!!! Give it a week and you will see the repeat performance playing out in the Florida Republican Primary. It really does not matter which of our guys win, it’s simple “ABO” Anybody But Obama, rules the day!!!
