.......As Gingrich’s fate rises, so does Obama’s zot
The Signal ^ | 1/24/12 | David Rothschild

In short, the markets think Obama is more likely to defeat Gingrich than Romney, so when the former speaker's fortunes elevate, so do the president's.
Over the last week, Gingrich's likelihood of winning the nomination has climbed from about 5 percent to about 30 percent. Currently, Gingrich is about 39 percent likely to defeat Obama if he makes it to the general election, while Romney is about 44 percent likely to reach the White House if he's the nominee.

Thanks, I remember that era well.

Everything you stated was TRUE. I thought, however, I would amplify your final statement a little more loudly.

Newt is the ONLY guy in the race that CAN win.

I don’t think the problem is as large as you’re making it.

Pretty sure you meant this for the now-zotted OP, with his push about Newt's alleged probs with women voters. All I said in reply to that guy about Newt's problems was that he has some, but I don't know how big. ("Yeah, I think Newt has problems, OTHER problems. (I can’t speak to the polling data on women voters.))"

gasoline is going to be $4.50 per gallon this summer, minimum. People are going to be so ready to throw Obama out by November

Yes and no. The Democrats will vote for Obama at $6 per gallon. But his base will less energized, so the outcome will be determined by how energized the Republican base is. Newt has his weaknesses, I have some bones to pick with him. But Romney is a guaranteed loser as regards the Republican base and that means he can not win. He's not going to win over any Dems but he will certainly drive away a lot of Republicans.

If you're a Democrat, why vote for "Obama Lite" when you already have the real thing?

And if you are a true Republican, why vote for "Obama Lite"?

“Personally, I don’t think Newt can beat bammy. Women simply won’t vote for him.”

...and so they said that in SC regarding the perfectly-timed ex-wife.

Ask one.

Stupid argument. I don't have to ask one. My wife shouts at the TV whenever Romney or Obama are on. She can't stand either one. She's backing Newt 100%. But beyond that, the election results as noted in articles since the SC primary show that women are going for Newt over Romney. I think you should get out more. You're way behind in your knowledge.

Now for the fun...

FLASHBACK 1980........All the smart guys on TV and in the press said Ronald Reagan was not electable.

I clearly remember watching "Washington Week in Review" the weekend before the 1980 election...two of the four panelists picked Carter to win. I remember thinking, what planet are they living on? I had attended a Reagan rally several weeks earlier (even got to shake hands with RR) that was bursting with enthusiasm.

Personally, I don't think Newt can beat bammy.

Women simply won't vote for him.

Don't believe me?

Ask one.

Well, I have now asked several and they all say they will vote for Newt.

Personally...I'll tell you what...

In 1992 I held my nose and voted for GHWB...Clinton won and trashed the Constitution.

In 1994 I held my nose and voted for Dole...Clinton won and continued trashing the Constitution BUT was countered by a man named Newt Gingrich.

In 2000 I held my nose and voted for GWB...and he barely beat a total jackass named Gore and then cozied up to Ted Kennedy with social programs.

In 2004 I held my nose and voted for GWB again...and he narrowly beat another total jackass named Kerry and wimped out on nearly every issue except National Security and in so doing foisted Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid into prominence.

And in 2008 I held my nose and voted for McCain...and Idi Obama won and trashed the Constitution.

Newsflash....I am NOT holding my nose anymore!

I am staying home and sending a message of Never Another RINO.

Well, what about the Congressional elections you might say.

Listen up!

Republicans control the House and haven't done SQUAT to stop the Idi Obama regime from running roughshod over the Constitution, and the Republican Senators act as if there is a Democrat super-majority in that chamber, so what good did it do to elect them to the majority in the House and increase their numbers in the Senate?

Anybody who wants my vote now...has to damn well earn it!

And after watching Mitt Romney "govern" Massachusetts and cozy up to the most liberal of Dems, he has a snowball's chance in Hell of convincing me to get off my ass and vote for him.
