What do Jennifer Aniston, other celebs do in these monstrous mansions? ('RATS CELEBRATING EARLY)

{excerpt} Money, get away

Elsewhere on the big money beat, I’m still trying to figure out how we got to a place where the top two GOP candidates are giving each other a hard time for making so much dough.

It was Gordon Gekko in “Wall Street” who famously said, “Greed, for a lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right. Greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures, the essence of the evolutionary spirit Greed . . . will . . . save that . . . malfunctioning corporation called the U.S.A.”

A quarter-century later, a story on the ABC News website featured photos of Mitt Romney and Michael Douglas as Gekko, with the headline, “Mitt Romney vs. Gordon Gekko.” The story centered on Romney saying, “I like being able to fire people who provide services to me.” (This after Romney famously told us, “Corporations are people.”)

Romney and Gingrich keep sniping at each other over money. Neither is saying the other broke any laws, but there’s endless bickering over how each lined his pockets, whether it’s Romney’s Cayman Islands banking or Gingrich’s work as a “historian” for Freddie Mac.

It boils down to, “You’re a rich guy exploiting every loophole!” vs. “You and your company got paid big bucks for lobbying!”

And while the Republicans bicker over money, the president sings Al Green and keeps on chuckling.

A premature re-election celebration for the 'rats although, I have to admit, that Barky's singing wasn't half-bad. Maybe Rev. Al should be pres and 0bama could cut a record or two for some work experience.

What do rich people do in their mansions?
Don’t know, but my daughter (not rich) owns one.
Two years ago, she and her husband went to a bank auction and took away a $2.7M mansion for $250K. Still $250K is hard to make payments on and then there’s the taxes.
Well, they don’t live in their mansion. They rent it out by the day-week-month to rich folks visiting Las Vegas. The rent pays the mortgage, taxes and gives them cash to boot.

You know, while I don’t agree with their values or beliefs, I don’t begrudge entertainers, sports figures, etc their wealth. We are the ones who make them, I just choose not to participate in that process. What annoys me is why they can’t return the favor and leave everyone else the hell alone, and spare us having to hear their every thought and opinion. Just shut up and sing, and then shut up again!

I am happy that Jennifer Aniston can purchase a house that she can afford. Funny how that works. These idiots who are losing their homes because they couldn’t afford it deserve every minute of it. Considering that Aniston gave us 10 years of wonderful laughter and great times shows she deserves to buy a home. I refuse to get in on this ridiculous “let’s bash the rich” nonsense which was NEVER a thing for conservatives of all people to do before recent events. It is unbelievable that people are bashing rich people.

Loved her as the sex-crazed dentist in HORRIBLE BOSSES. I’d love to give her a root...canal.

Ted Kennedy could have bought and sold the entire GOP slate out of his petty cash account. So how is it that the Democrats are so holier-than-thou about rich people all of a sudden?

What do they do in their mansions?

I am pretty sure they hold fund-raisers for Obama.

I think it less a monstrous mansion (it is a 4 bedroom house), than land is just very expensive in Los Angeles, and it sits on a large parcel in a nice area. It's probably a $500k house in many parts of the country.

Did anyone see the TV show last week about the mansion being sold by Candy Spelling, widow of Aaron Spelling and mother of Tori Spelling? Her attic was 16,000 sq.feet! This place as humongous! I don’t know what I would do with such a huge place, even if I could afford it.
