Its back.
(Excerpt) Read more at drudgereport.com ...
Most of us didn’t go to check the link. We just removed Drudge as a source for anything! Oh by the way it was about what he did not the link!
It was gone from about 2002 until around 2008 after some personal issues w/ folks on FR and Matt’s friend Lucienne Goldberg.
Is there a decent alternative to Drudge?
>>THE LINK WAS NEVER GONE! I posted that the link was still there, a few days ago, on the same idiot thread that claimed the link had been removed. Don’t you guys even check for yourself to see if something is true? <<
Seems that many people here on FR have become lemmings. Few seem to check for themselves. I think people have too many things to worry about and fall back on the “I read it on the internet” mentality with FR.
If he doesn’t feel that he’s “in the tank” for Romney, or is actually “not” in the tank for Romney, then he should have received a tremendous ‘wake up call’ on the one-sided piling on that he perpetuated and actively participate-on against Newt last week.
Either way, “in” the tank or “not” in the tank, he’s realized now ‘WHO’ he’s messing with.
>>>Is there a decent alternative to Drudge?
Some site run by this guy named Jim Thompson I think.... it’s Free-something or other....
Drudge can do anything he pleases. I will never return to his page again. I have standards and he has fallen below them.
Breitbart and the “Big” sites.
I never go to Drudge. Between Breitbart, FR and sometimes Beck’s “The Blaze” (although they have horrible editors and are against Newt) I have all I need.
It was gone for awhile last week. I did check it.
I will say that Drudge did pile on FOR Newt in November (as he points out on his page right now with archival links to prove it).
Drudge is an editor, and editors cannot please all the people all of the time.
I have been committed to Newt since November, by the way, and it was links I found on Drudge that helped me commit.
That’s why I said “some”.
Some of us check for ourselves. Some take the word of other posters as set in stone.
I go here, then Big, then Blaze and finally FoxNews. Drudge is way down on my list, not because of the Mitt thing but because if it’s a huge event, FReepers catch it first.
Ah yes, Drudge (with his numerous daily links to tabloids, sex crimes, medical freaks, and gossip) met your high standards until last week.
Yep, you have highest standards.
Fudge link?
No thanks.
I’ll go to Kilwin’s
The whole issue is slightly ridiculous.
Drudge is a free enterprise not NPR. If you like his service, visit his site, if not, don’t. Just don’t expect to convert those who hold the opposite views. it’s still (more/less) a free country and many people think for themselves.
Any business has to differentiate itself and create demand for it’s product. For online news sites that often means giving people a reason to come there and click through rather than going elsewhere, and that creates an incentive to be a little controversial or sensational. The market will decide.
Amen. All bookmarks and apps removed as of last week. Goodbye Drudge.
>It was gone from about 2002 until around 2008 after some personal issues w/ folks on FR and Matts friend Lucienne Goldberg.<
Yep.
I will not give GayMatt, the Mann-Coulter-loving poofter, the web hit he so desperately wants.
He can suck a golf ball through a garden hose.
Maybe, but given the knee-jerk nature of many FR posts, I'll take Drudge as the more reliable source. One can argue as to whether he's biased or not, but his livelihood depends on getting things right.
When it was reinstated linked to FR Home page, not straight to the forum as before.
“Not going back there.”
Same here. Deleted from “favorites”. Screw Drudge.
