WASHINGTON — Democrats on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on Tuesday are expected to publish a report on the disputed gun trafficking investigation called Operation Fast and Furious, concluding that agents in Arizona — not Obama administration officials — were responsible for the tactics used in the inquiry and for providing misleading information relayed to Congress.
In an 89-page report, titled “Fatally Flawed: Five Years of Gun-walking in Arizona,” the Democratic staff portrays Fast and Furious as the fourth investigation, dating back to 2006, in which Arizona-based agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives employed the tactic “gun-walking” — failing to interdict illegally purchased guns in an attempt to build a bigger case.
“This report debunks many unsubstantiated conspiracy theories,” Representative Elijah E. Cummings, Democrat of Maryland, wrote in a cover letter. “Contrary to repeated claims by some, the committee has obtained no evidence that Operation Fast and Furious was a politically motivated operation conceived and directed by high-level Obama administration political appointees at the Department of Justice.”
Still, because the report was written by Democrats, the political impact of its conclusion exonerating high-level officials of wrongdoing may be limited. Its publication comes two days before Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. is to testify before the committee. In previous hearings, Republicans have accused the department of sanctioning the tactics and lying to Congress.
In Fast and Furious, which ran from late 2009 to early 2011, A.T.F. officials lost track of about 2,000 guns purchased by suspected “straw buyers.” Many weapons are believed to have reached a Mexican drug cartel. Two guns linked to the investigation were found at the site of a shootout in which a Border Patrol agent, Brian Terry, was killed.

The rats were very concerned that Holder would have nothing to talk about, other than incriminate himself. He can't just plead the 5th on every question. The results of this report IS his "5th" to plead, in lieu of the real 5th. Now he can babble on and one, and weave in tons of references, "... now I refer you to page 47, paragraph A, sentence 3, character 7, and pica 12 on that." "Please refer to report page 72, between line 7 and 8, in that whitespace, you can clearly see that..."

This is absolute BS meant soley to give cover to Holder and Obama.
But Holder has now been showed to have perjured himself before congress so at the very least he has brought himself into the line of fire in any case. The truth is much worse IMHO. I believe the plan and their desires to use it for 2nd amendment action and more control originated right at the top.
And we know there was a line from the fieled directly into the White House as well which bears much more serious investigation.
Holder should be fired and then prosecuted...but I hope they hold off until after the election so he can be fired in disgrace and then prosecuted afterwards when Obama cannot give him amnesty.

The democrats get out ahead of the issue, release a report exonerating Obama and the DOJ. The MSM will parrot the lie and when the Republicans come out with the truth, it will look like a “racist, partisan attack” to impede Obama’s attempts to get the nation and the economy back on track. Issa should be holding press conferences weekly, keeping the investigation at the forefront.

Not so fast there Pravda: “the Democratic staff portrays Fast and Furious as the fourth investigation, dating back to 2006”...the fast and furious did not begin in 06...it began in 09. The earlier matter, under Bush, was not designed to sell guns in Mexico.

we have the north east and the west coast mainly who are totally different to the rest of the south and the midwest.
There are different values, and many down here look at the west coast and the north east as another country anyway.

If Holder didn’t know about this, then he is most certainly incompetent.
There could be a backfire here. In attempting to prevent damage to Holder, the damage may redound to Obama, because the incompetence meme is beginning to acquire more credibility each day, and not just from the Justice Dept.
This is why Republicans fire their incompetents summarily and rapidly.
The dems will take the five year old approach, listing all the things they claim didn’t happen or they are not guilty of. There is the shopping list, like the kid, they will tell you all they did do while denying they did it.
