Actually, GOPE (GOP Establishment or GOP Elite) seemed to rise from the ether just a few days ago.

Thanks for getting me up to speed. :)

There's a lot of people I used to have respect for that have turned out to be "GOPE" - they're dead to me now.

I'm too old to vote for politics as usual anymore, maybe if Obama wins again - it will be the motivation for revolution. Maybe you have to tear the old house down to be able to build a better one. I know that I'm moving out of the GOPE house for good.

I’m getting really, really tired of being told I’m too “emotional”! What the hell?? Faux News talking points! Just like Dick the toe sucker Morris saying Newt supporters will get over it and like lemmings or sheep, follow Mitt blindly over the cliff. I fell for that BS with McCain. Never again. The GOPe and libtards hand picked Mittens to shove down our throats. Well, my gag reflex is very strong and I’m spitting him right back in their faces!! So, you betcha I’m emotional! And angry. And determined. You go ahead and be a good little lamb and meek and unemotionally vote for whomever you are told to. I will never again do that. Sorry.

I honestly believe that if Newt dropped out right now and endorsed Santorum, Santorum would do better against Romney in the rest of the primaries than vice-versa.

Well you're certainly entitled to believe what you wish, however as nice a guy as Santorum is (and I was on board with him after Iowa for a while), he was aptly described by a FReeper today (whose name I cannot recall) as being a ".22 caliber candidate in a room full of .50 caliber opponents" and that is sadly the truth.

I certainly could live with a 'President Santorum', however that train hasn't left the station, in fact it isn't even going to arrive.

Sorry.

Rick Santorum giving his speech in what looks like a tiny conference hall at the Hampton Inn. About 50 people with a few scattered handclaps and a hoot or two.

Thanks a lot Rick, you geek. Hope you enjoy your 13% spoiler votes in your continued pointless campaign.

I pledged not to vote for Romney under any circumstances, for any office at any time, ever - and I keep my pledges.

Same here. Romnuts is pro-death, pro-sodomite, a liar, and he is an Assachusetts politician. I will NOT vote for him.

She is a smart cookie, she isn’t going to disrespect Santorum by endorsing Newt right on the spot. She is waiting to see what Rick is going to do before she full out endorses anyone.

Everything Romney does is calculated. He made the calculation to come to Masschusetts to run foe the Senate as a Republican, because Kennedy had the Dem side locked up. (just like RINO Bloomberg in NYC). He staked out liberal positions and disavowed Reagan.

He maintained pro-abortion, pro-gay, and big government positions even as governor. He spent his last year in office out of state as he laid the groundwork for a Presidential run. He made the calculation not to run for governor because he would lose.

Romney then made the calculation to change his positions on major issues such as abortion so that he would be more aligned with Republicans on the national stage.

He morphed into ‘Mr. Conservative’ for the Presidential campaigns. But because he had no conservative track record to support his rhetoric, he savaged opponents through ads and under-the-radar attacks.

He has stood by his biggest disaster, Romneycare, with its $50 abortions and the lack of conscience exemptions—just like Obamacare.

The fact that he can recite a speech with some conservative-sounding sentiments doesn’t mean that he believes any of it in his heart, because his actions say that he doesn’t.

First, I agree Romney was liberal in Mass. Pure and simple. Second, Romney still may not get the nomination.

But Obama is the enemy and that is not naive. Get a better nominee if you can. They will get my vote.

I realize it’s nit-picky, but it just annoys me no end when Santorum refers to himself as “we” and “us”. The Royal We.

The second choice of the majority of Santorum voters was Romney, not Newt. Santorum and Romney are hand in glove, and Santorum wants to be Romney’s VP.

If Santorum had dropped out, it might have made people think, because they probably would not have gone directly to Romney even if they had said they would when asked. The home-schooling moms and Evangelicals and old ladies voting for altar boy of the month who were the major Santorum voting block would probably have had to look at policies and not drool over his squeaky clean, smarmy Eddie Haskellness.

What’s coming up is a Romney/Santorum ticket.

And I’m not voting for it.

[The establishment spends millions smearing a conservative. When it becomes clear that the establishment candidate will get the nomination the “unite” bs starts.[

Ditto on that.

I wonder what people think a Newt Third Party vote total would be? Here’s my first guess:
Obama 44 Mitt 38 Newt 18
Just wonder if there is any winning scenario.
