And, although my verdict is still out on Newt’s specific space plan, let’s take just one nanosecond to recall the benefits the entire world received from the US Space Program from the 60’s through the early 2000’s before it was turned into a Muslim Outreach Program ..... and contrast those benefits to those of OB’s bailout programs. Which method of spending money do YOU believe benefited the US and ALL Mankind more??????

Folks, Newt stated clearly last week that he intends for 90% of the funding for his space venture to come from the PRIVATE SECTOR. He isn’t advocating some big push on public spending! He said he believes there are plenty of billionaires and millionaires who would like to get in on space exploration. I think he’s right; look at Richard Branson of Virgin Airlines.

You are very right. A manned moon base is a very real possibility in 2020, and the first concrete steps are being taken... Newt very clearly said he wants to beat Russia there... what is wrong with people?

“Russia is talking with the US and Europe on plans to create a manned research base on the moon, the head of the Russian space agency Roscosmos said Thursday.

Roscosmos is discussing the possibilities for a permanent moon base with officials from NASA and the European Space Agency, the agency’s chief, Vladimir Popovkin said.

“We don’t want man to just step on the moon,” Popovkin told Vesti FM radio station, according to the Ria Novosti news agency. “Today, we know enough about it, we know that there is water in its polar areas ... we are now discussing how to begin [the moon’s] exploration with NASA and the European Space Agency.”

He said the plan was either to set up a base on the moon or launch a station to orbit around it.

Russia also is planning to send two unmanned mission to the moon by 2020, Popovkin said.”
