With just days to go before Nevada Republicans head to the polls to choose who they want to take on President Obama in November, reality show host Donald Trump is injecting himself into the race and endorsing Newt Gingrich.

Trump's office announced Wednesday that he would make a major announcement Thursday morning in Las Vegas, without providing details of what he would say.

Two sources confirmed to CBS News that the publicity savvy businessman plans to endorse the former House speaker in his bid for the Republican presidential nomination. Nevada holds its caucus Saturday.

Lindsey KNOWS the SC primary was the writing on the wall foreshadowing the end of his political career.

Maybe so. But, when you're talking about a Presidential candidate and you say that he's erratic (which he said twice), and you say that when he's "erratic" he's "dangerous to himself and others"? That's actually an unspoken endorsement for the other guy. I wanted to slap him.

I will not disagree. Maybe he is setting the ground work to challenge the present governor. AND Romney's idiotic words about not caring for the poor will not be lost on South Carolina voters. That so called 'safety net' is dragging bottom because of unemployment. Old lord McCain is not going to live forever and Lindsey is going to have to some day strike out on his own. IF there is a national election for Congress as in 1994, Lindsey may not like what that does for him in WDC.

“Mitt refused to go to Trumps debate...”

It just occurred to me that Trump may have something on Mitt Romney. Okay, besides the fact Mittens is a chump and a phoney.

Trump isn’t a Conservative—hes better than that—Hes a Capitalist. Market capitalism can’t survive in an Obama or Romney world. Good news is Capitalism and Conservatism have much in common.

Remember when Trump was going to moderate a debate? Who said they would come? Newt. Who said they wouldn’t kiss his ring? Mitt. Payback is a bit*h. I bet he’s going to do more than just endorse him—he will do something better....

Canada put up with a dozen years of Jean Chretien and Liberal Party rule while the third party sent the “Progressive Conservatives” to their doom as a political party.

Harper and the new Conservative Party now form the government and Canada still exists.

After Drudge tipped his hand that he is a Mitt sycophant this week, I refuse to listen to a single word that that disgusting man has to say. I only heard about this through some folks on my Twitter feed. I for one hope that Trump endorses Newt!!

The Lindsey Graham endorsement may also be related to “old scores” considering that Graham was in the forefront of the Clinton impeachment and trial.

The GOP insiders may have been upset about that effort.

Around midnight, Drudge, who seldom tweets , had two up saying Trump will be endorsing Romney, not Gingrich.

Hey, it sure can’t hurt Newt, even if Trump is a plutocrat.

Will the actual endorsement get Newt votes? Except for a few die-hard "The Apprentice" fans I don't see it as having much effect.

However it can help him in another way: If Trump endorses Newt it means that he can hardly jump in the race himself later. Thus it will help getting those sitting on the fence and maybe waiting for another entry / a third party candidate finally get behind the only viable non-Mitt-Romney candidate. As the Romans said: tertium non datur. It's either this or that, a third option doesn't exist.

Something in play here I didn't think about until this a.m. ( est :-0 )...

* This is going to happen in Vegas.
* Trump has interest their for sure.
* Do you remember who came out against Vegas and Corporate Jets?
* Yes out anointed one, but why back Newt vs any of the others? My guesses have been stated here in an earlier post.
* But one may assume Newt will be more pro business and Pro-Vegas / Turism than any of the others.
* One can't help but wonder if their is some sort of Vegas vs Utah thingee going on here too...

Trump has one HUGE strength. He can shut the media up. And put them on his side because they are terrified of him. BIG HUGE advantage. Some one to tell the liberal media to shut up... That is good news.

I’d be amazed if he endorsed Romney. Trump knows a bullhockey player when he hears one. Also, he likes people with fertile minds, big ideas, vision. I think Newt’s space vision alone would capture Donald Trump.

“If Trump endorses Newt it means that he can hardly jump in the race himself later.”

Unless, of course, Newt does not get the nomination. Trump has always said we need “the right” candidate and, if not, he would consider third party.
