Nobel peace prize jury under investigation

STOCKHOLM, Sweden (AP) — Nobel Peace Prize officials were facing a formal inquiry over accusations they have drifted away from the prize's original selection criteria by choosing such winners as President Barack Obama, as the nomination deadline for the 2012 awards closed Wednesday.
The investigation comes after persistent complaints by a Norwegian peace researcher that the original purpose of the prize was to diminish the role of military power in international relations.

For example, in 2007 the prize went to climate activist Al Gore and the U.N.'s panel on climate change, and in 2009 the committee cited Obama for "extraordinary efforts" to boost international diplomacy.

It's a Joke.
No big deal - I think they just merged it with the Lenin Prize sometime in the 1990’s when no one was looking.
The TV Land Awards have more of an impact on society then the Nobie Prize.
No one gives a s___t about this piece of crap award anymore. It has about as much value as a plastic toy in the bargain basement bin at your local discount store. Conservatives should simply ignore it.
They’ve egg on their faces. The Peace prize of late has been a disgrace.
In areas of Science; I still read those awards.
The ridicule that the NPP has drawn lately makes it an embarrassment for the Narcissist in Chief.
This is probably the reason they’re talking about revoking it, because it reflects badly on 0bama.
Too little too late. The prize is a bad joke and everybody knows it. So the buffoons don’t like being laughed at. They should get used to it. The bell has been rung and there’s no going back. Obama is such a self-centered, unaccomplished wrecking ball of a narcissist, he eventually destroys anyone who plays ball w him. He should put another notch in his belt. He delivered the coup de grace to an outfit that mortally wounded itself via Arafat, but has taken way too long to outright die.

Your list is good, but very incomplete to demonstrate the folly of the “Prize”.
In 2007, I researched the earlier prize winners and made quite a long post on FR detailing other, lesser known, “winners. The biographies of many of them demonstrate that their main claim to fame was advancing the socialist, globalist (read “Communist”, effectively) agenda. A serious person researching their records would come to the conclusion that well under half of the “Peace Prize” winners since 1980 had anything to do with advancing a more peaceful world.
That list could be at least doubled with a little research and educating people.

It is unfortunate that it is so difficult to recover FR posts. I’ve put a lot of time and effort into some posts (especially on the order of 7-10 years ago) and it is sometimes quite upsetting that there is inadequate search facility on FR to recover them. Some of those were pertinent then, and I believe would have been seen as prescient now (terrorism, Islamofacists, Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warming [CAGW], etc.)
Can you retrieve your 2007 post? I would be very happy to publicize it.
And here I thought it was the primary for the antichrist.
