‘No Fifth Amendment Theater’ in tomorrow’s Holder hearing(gunwalker) [LIVE THREAD]
Gun Rights Examiner ^ | 1 February, 2012 | David Codrea

Posted on 02/02/2012 6:06:17 AM PST by marktwain

“There will be no Fifth Amendment Theater tomorrow of the Phoenix US Attorneys being forced to say their ‘I-don't-wannas’ in front of the cameras,” Mike Vanderboegh of Sipsey Street Irregulars files in an exclusive report today from Washington, DC.

There will be only one panel of one -- Eric Holder. This is viewed by many who have been following the investigation as a serious mistake. Said one, "More simple browbeating of Eric Eric Holder without dramatic new evidence to impeach his story is going to look petty, mean and impotent.

Perhaps. After all, House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Darrell Issa has pledged “We are still going to bring him forward” in response to Chief of the Criminal Division in the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Arizona Patrick Cunningham’s decision to invoke his right not to self-incriminate after being subpoenaed to testify. And Issa has further demanded Justice stop blocking testimony from Cunningham underling Michael Morrissey. Advertisement

Compound this with a return shot from Committee Democrats attempting to absolve their administration allies, an outraged response from Sen. Chuck Grassley of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and yesterday’s stunning, knives-are-out ultimatum by Issa to charge stonewalling Attorney General Eric Holder with contempt of Congress, and it would appear an opportunity to show the American people an ongoing cover-up happening before their eyes may be lost.

And perhaps not. Again, per Vanderboegh:

I’m going to have to side with Roccus on this one.

If Issa and Burton don’t grab a lever immediately and open a trap door to Jabba the Hut’s bit beneath capitol hill with a Rancor monster in it, then this is all just ‘political theater.’

Yes, all this “law, law, law” and “evidence schmevidence” is silly. Rule of law is slow and painful, inefficient and not very rewarding TV.

“Off with his head! Trial later!”

I think we’d do much better if Congress had Politburo powers that Henry Waxman could use against, well, anyone he chooses if the Dems get the House back.

McHenry is doing GREAT.

"Over 13 months after a death, you STILL have fired no one, and no one is being held accoutable!"

They are REALLY making Holder squirm now, questioning why he’s done NOTHING but hide facts.....

“This year?”
“In 6 months?”
“The end of the quarter?”

Holder does not know when the quarter ends...

My favorite line: "You haven't even put a letter in anyone's personnel file."

The point of today's hearings has been totally muddled.

Maloney is on the “gun violence” aspect.
Draws on al Quieda (sp?) “go to America. Get guns!!” Disgusting.

Is anyone surprised? It will be their never ending excuse. If anyone of them had any intellect to work with, they’d realize how embarrassing that’s getting.

A bit over the top there. But hey, you’re entitled to think as you wish. I tend to look at the track record of these sorts of “investigations”....Whitewater, Vincent Foster, Presidential pergury, 9/11 c0mmission......

Your assessment that (to me) the glass is sour however, is spot on.
