Rep. Heath Shuler (D-N.C.) will not run for re-election this year, a source close to the Congressman told Roll Call.

The Blue Dog Democrat had decided against a bid in a redrawn 11th district, which was made substantially more Republican than his current district during GOP-led redistricting.

However horrible Romney is (McCain lite) he is infinitely better than Obama.

Cannot agree. At least Emperor Zero doesn’t insult our intelligence by pretending to be a Republican. Willard has been and always will be a Socialist.

We’ll disagree. I’m not going to pull a “Sweden” the war between Hitler and Stalin. I’m going to pick a side, defeat the worst now, then go after the second worst.

He’s as good of a politician as he was an NFL Quarterback.

“If Willard hijacks the nod, I’m out....”

Me too.

“...Willard only likes puppets, anyhow, ones who can be swiftly used and discarded. Just ask poor Kerry Healey. She didn’t even know what hit her.”

She still doesn’t.

“... so that something new that supports true government reform and the vast shrinkage that not only should be done, but will have to be done, in order to save this country.”

I’ve been saying it for years: The country needs to be split peacefully before it breaks apart violently.

If that were true he would have lost 2-1, like his INT to TD ratio!!!!!!

Unmentioned among the rats for Governor is the current LT, Walter Dalton who is in the race (Perdue’s choice?).

I know jack about him except that he won his current office 51-46 in 2008 and was a State Senator before that.

He's a not terribly exciting middling liberal from Western NC. He's raised some money and stroked his way around the Dem establishment.

Bobby Etheridge occupies much of the same ground, but from a different geography. Perdue has been paying him 6 figures in various made-up govt jobs ever since he lost.

McIntyre could not win given the way the moonbats have taken over the Democratic Party.

There's an opening for a liberal outsider to run but not a lot of time before the primary so they've have to self-fund.

I feel good about our chances at winning the Governorship of NC. We nearly got it in 2008.

Shuler is far more conservative on social issues than is Etheridge; they’re both just as liberal on economic issues. If the moonbats are so strong within the NC RAT Party that they could prevent a qualified, experienced candidate such as McIntyre from winning the gubernatorial nomination, then I don’t think that a lightweight who is nonetheless pro-life, pro-gun and pro-marriage such as Shuler can beat Etheridge in the primary.

Definitely not if he doesn't run.

Oh, my goodness...that breaks my heart.

I loved his columns. I assumed I hadn’t seen any of his stuff ‘cause he got married, or was busy with running for Congress again.

Wow, this is really, really sad news.

Thanks for letting me know.

He will be missed.

Ed
