Santorum doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of beating Romney, much leas Obama.

His poll numbers are half or less than Newt’s, so why should Newt get out and endorse him? If anything, it should be the other way around. But unlike Rick Perry, Santorum’s a sullen little egomaniac who doesn’t have it in him to do the right thing.

Flyover country has plenty of money.

Remember Christine O’Donnell’s massive campaign donations, which *poured* in almost overnight?

For a small seat, in a small state, which very few people have even been to? That one brave, perhaps imperfect but nevertheless heroic woman stood against the GOP “establishment”.

And was suddenly rolling in campaign donations.

Imagine that, multiplied by all the frustration out in real America.

That’s what I was thinking, that’s assuming it’s for real. Who knows for sure. The timing of this announcement is suspicious. Could be a ruse to cast doubt on the day of the vote.

What does he have in mind? I expect Nevada to go heavily for Romney, as he won in 2008, but the decision for a press conference has me perplexed.

If Romney becomes the nominee I write in for President and vote downline. No way will I ever cast a vote for Romney.

****************************

Agreed. If Romney is the nominee, he will lose, regardless. So let him lose big. I will write in Sarah and vote for republicans on the rest of the ballot, and conservative for any ballot questions.

Some posters have suggested a "protest vote" to reelect the current resident of the white house. I would never do that, nor would I have anything but contempt for someone who did.

CNN, thank you for that statement. That is what I saw as an eyewitness to those events.

Christine O'Donnell brought down Mike Castle and Tom Ross, the former head of the DE GOP. Now there is a new power structure in place here, and we hope they will do the will of those that put them there.

Very stupid idea.
If we can’t win a majority, in the Republican Party, we will NEVER win a majority with the public at large.

Third Party ideas are egotistical stupidity.

Worst case scenario; Gingrich gets out of the race and endorses Santorum.

That's absolutely true since Gingrich is ahead of Santorum.

I’ll fight to defeat Romney in this primary. But if he wins the nomination, he’s got my vote and probably even my door to door efforts.

Why would you vote for a Massachusetts liberal that has the same track record as Obama?

There are no events on Newt.org planned for today. does not look good. Newt looked tired last night at the prayer conference when he walked to the podium. It was the same walk he had when he spoke at the Florida Rally where Cain endorsed him. He knew Florida was lost then and I think he knows his campaign cannot continue against the negative ads. Santorum is hitting him hard too.

I will still vote for Newt in November - I will just write his name in. I will never vote for Romney.

But I don’t see a brokered convention helping conservatives as that’s exactly what the elites want.

Santorum has his own baggage

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-01-05/santorum-becomes-millionaire-in-six-years-after-losing-u-s-senate-seat.html

Just how bad was Rick Santorum’s 2006 reelection loss? Really bad.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-fix/post/just-how-bad-was-rick-santorums-2006-reelection-loss/2012/01/06/gIQANaYflP_blog.html

Santorum has proved one thing ..... He's a loser.

I think maybe you were out of the country in 2008?

We tried egotistical stupidity already. How’d that president McCain thing work out?

In hindsight, I wish we’d started a third party then!

There was an article here yesterday that quoted Santorum as saying God called him to run for President. Someone who talks like that is NEVER going to quit.

Obama lost his first race.

Santorum won, more than once, in a Democrat State.

Santorum lost his last race during an anti-Bush wave election. Coattails matter.

Santorum was never my first choice, but your attacks against him are not fair.
