NEW YORK — Among the slick, million-dollar ads for the likes of Pepsi and Honda during the Super Bowl this Sunday, viewers in Washington will see a far more modest spot. New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino will be sitting on a couch touting an issue most politicians avoid like the plague: gun control.

The two mayors, whose local teams face off in the big game, are making the pitch for Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG), the organization they co-founded in 2006.

Getting tired of hearing this pompous ass whine about guns while he walks around with his heavily armed security guards. One set of rules for him, another set of rules for everyone else.

Cut’n’paste out of a private file.

Often it isn’t private, but is stored on someone’s FR profile page.

He could start off talking about Holder. The nations biggest illegal gun provider.

But this is about taking guns from citizens who have them to protect them selves. Protect themselves from a govt that is too big and too intrusive and criminals who want to harm them or steal from them.

In some respects I agree, we do need 'more gun control'.

Too many bad guys are getting away wounded instead of dead.

How to convince lefties that guns are a good idea:

1) No More Matthew Shepard’s. Shouldn’t the gay community be allowed to protect themselves from physical harm from homophobes, intolerant of others sexual orientation??

2) Shouldn’t women who are about to practice their reproductive rights ,upheld by the US Supreme Court, be allowed to protect themselves from the gauntlet of Christian, Taliban protesters enamored with Sarah Palin, who willing shoot doctors in Planned Parenthood facilities??

3) No More James Byrd JRs! Shouldn’t the African American community be allowed to protect themselves confederate flag flying, racist rednecks, residing throughout the rural South?

4) Shouldn’t our critical, indispensable federal and state employees be allowed to protect themselves from the angry,mean-spirited,,extremists in the Tea Party who create a toxic environment while camped out for months on end, in front of our nation’s government offices and city halls?

5) Aren’t conservatives like drug dealers? They are going to get guns anyway, why not protect ourselves from their unenlightened, backward ideology?

I’ve told lefties these phrases and their heads spin.

Bloomberg...a Romney Republican.

The names of 2 liberal hacks in the same sentence as Republican...

So much for the Republican party conservative credentials.

I just have a textfile with a huge list of FReeper names separated by semicolons, and I just past it into the “To:” field when I post on a thread. Easy.

Call me a criminal then. I carry all the time and I don't have a carry permit and I didn't get permission from big brother either.

They can kiss my ass.

Let me guess. New York City needs more gun control laws. The—what is it now?—$250 permit application? The six to nine month waiting period, the bring each gun in and register it off the serial number on the handle requirement, the three month waiting period between guns, the mandatory membership in a range for target licenses, and carry it around in a locked box. The special long gun permit required nowhere else in NY City.-—These all aren’t enough. What is it this time? Spread the love to all 50 states? Did they find another model of gun that looks scary if you shine the light on it this way, and therefore they want it banned? How much is enough for these yoyos?

Here in Israel, we have a few strictly enforced gun laws, and when I see a big black man walking down the street with an Uzi strapped across his back, I nod hello and he nods back, same as I would the scrawny 20-year-old kid with the acne and the M-16. Can any New York resident say the same?

I'd feel completely safe in such a community. On the other hand, if I were in Chitcago or one of the other gun grabbing utopias where firearms are banned, or might as well be, I'd feel the need to buy an armored transport.

) How did this jackass get elected?

Because the majority of NYers agree with him. They're cowardly liberals who hate freedom and responsibility, and who want to live in a police state as long as they can grasp the illusion of safety. Hating yet fearing freedom, they envy the rest of us and want to extinguish our freedom too. Bloomberg isn't the problem. he's the symptom. New Yorkers are the problem.

>>>“He added that more Americans have been killed by illegal guns since 1968 than were killed in World War II.”

I didn’t know WWII lasted 44 years.<<<

It should also be noted that during WWII, the good guys were allowed to carry firearms. Imagine the death toll if only the Axis troops were armed? Of course, the idea of sending an army to battle without weapons is absurd, but no more absurd than thinking that disarming law-abiding citizens, and leaving only the criminals armed will reduce, rather than increase gun violence.

Also, I believe the majority of firearms related deaths in the US are suicides. While these are tragic, it seems obvious that the vast majority of these people would have killed themselve by different means, if guns had not been available.
