Gingrich Patron Said to Have Plan B: Romney [Adelson met with Koch Brothers]

LAS VEGAS — Sheldon Adelson, the billionaire casino executive keeping Newt Gingrich’s presidential hopes alive, has relayed assurances to Mitt Romney that he will provide even more generous support to his candidacy if he becomes the Republican nominee, several associates said in interviews here. The signals from Mr. Adelson, whose politics are shaped in large part by his support for Israel, reflect what the associates said was his deep investment in defeating President Obama and his willingness to play a more prominent role in the Republican Party and conservative causes.

The assurances have been conveyed in response to a highly delicate campaign by Mr. Romney and his top Jewish financial supporters to dissuade Mr. Adelson from adding to the $10 million that he and his wife have given to a pro-Gingrich “super PAC,” Winning Our Future, that has been tearing into Mr. Romney through television advertising.

Obama’s list of billionaire contributors is lengthy: Marc Benioff, Neil Blum, Penny Pritzker, Marc Lasry, David Shaw, Kenneth Griffin, Steve Bing, to name a few...

Why would he want to respond? He is safer not to. These guys do all attend the Koch Bros financial summit, for lack of a better description.

Herman Cain has attended and may have done so this time [outside Palm Springs] as well--they all have ties.

I would suggest people read this article closely.

Fox Business Stuart Varney interviewed Trump this past week and T said that Newt was being used to train Romney or "was useful" to make R tough in the upcoming verses Obama. Of course it was Trump speaking and he plays the game--but we still have that meeting which takes place every year organized by the Brothers and Adelson is a part of that financial Titan group in attendance.

Then again Adelson said that he and his wife would support Newt as long as Newt stayed in..so the Plan B which would have to be expected, but I would not have announced as some have. They are, however, all in unison about removing "Obama" from office.

And maybe the "associates" are Trumps people talking.

I guess we stay tuned...

Truth is the many supposed Newt supporters were never serious about Newt even here.

If they were there would be 8 or 10 Adelsons's out there right now all forking over 5 million at a time for Newt and it would have started in in SC. Not now when its too late.

I'm guilty myself. I know two people who could fork over that kind of money and I failed to get them to do it. And I bet there are others on this forum who know billionaire types as well. Where's the money? ITs one thing to talk a good fight yet another to fail to deliver.

We have failed both on Newt and on the eligibility issue. We knew all along we needed a Mark Levin style firm or we were spinning our wheels yet we let Orly bite the dust. No one's fault but our own.

MONEY talks BS walks.

Newt might be being used to train Romney, but he hates Romney and the training isn't working (Romney is still an idiot!).

Newt is the only guy capable of pulling America back from this Event Horizon.

Newt is the only person with the historical perspective and detailed understanding necessary to save this country.

But that money will follow where ever Adelson goes..if there is a Plan B. Vegas is betting on Romney at this point: A few minutes ago:

5 percent of precincts reporting, Romney leads with 37 percent. Ron Paul has 29 percent, followed by Newt Gingrich with 20 percent and Rick Santorum with 13 percent. Nevada is friendly territory for Romney, having overwhelmingly supported him in 2008. Entrance polls Saturday evening showed Romney crushing the competition among those who value beating President Obama in November as the most important quality in a GOP candidate.

The polls also showed Romney leading the field by double digits among evangelical Christian caucus-goers... http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/02/04/romney-takes-early-lead-in-nevada-caucuses/

When we’re competing for moneymen whose fortunes come from gambling, prostitution and drugs in order to save our country, it ain’t lookin’ too good. Not the best symbiosis we could engineer.

Adelson is for Israel...and, if Israel can read, the Mormons count the Israelites among the heathen (just like the non-Mormon Christians).

This election (and the future) will be decided along religious lines...as it should be!

Elsie...pinged you here because I need your help.

Did you see the set that Newt will be speaking from...No supporters just the press, Lots and lots of cameras, mics etc.

So is he giving a ‘Statemen’ speach? What’s the announcement....After sixty people attend a fundraiser, organized by a billionaire, you don’t drop out, but you do make an announcement of future plans.

WHy no supporters? Any ideas?

I understand what you are saying and commend you for sticking by Newt, but Newt has dropped when losing in FL by double digits, as in Romney did win. If Paul wins over Newt in Vegas what does that say for Newt's candidacy?

When Romney hit Newt with a come back punch the other day of the controversial commercial with Pelosi/Global warming being funded by Soros, I think Newt's people are not doing their homework if you go in hit hard don't open up for a punch immediately back. The Fannie/Freddie Newt delivered came back to hit him to as also an investor. They are in our mutual funds.

The researchers for Newt are not keeping him safe--from a quick comeback that the Romney camp seem to know exactly what Newt is going to say and are immediately ready for it..and hit back immediately. ...just my opinion on observing the look on Newts face, when the blow comes right back in seconds.

I think Newt is always blown away by the depths to which Romney will sink (in both Iowa and Florida).

Romney is for Romney and the LDS...Newt is for America (he feels the call of destiny).

This war has just begun!

Go Newt!

I don’t care anymore. If anyone plans and supports at this point, then you are NOT a conservative by any stretch of the imagination.
