Thousands of Russians protest Putin’s candidacy

The protests come in advance of Russia’s March 4 presidential elections. Putin served two terms as president before term limits forced him from office in 2008. Putin announced in September he would run for a third non-consecutive presidential term as allowed by the Russian constitution. Dmitry Medvedev, whom Putin picked to succeed him as president in 2008, is stepping aside to allow Putin to return to power. Reports have estimated the Moscow turnout at 50,000 to 120,000 people. Similar Anti-Putin protests erupted in December with demonstrators alleging election fraud by Putin’s United Russia party, which managed to hold onto a majority in parliament even though it lost many seats. Russian officials noted that a pro-Putin rally of 138,000 people occurred at the same time a few miles away in Moscow, but reporters on the ground estimated those numbers had been inflated.

Same thoughts - coming to your neighborhood soon.

So many blatant eschewals of Law and the Constitution would indicate that the Dims and Obama might seriously consider making their reign permanent.

I’m curious what these ‘middle class Russians’ really wants?
They have all the opportunities to grow, their average income doubled several times since 1999.
They all have their Volvos and European vacations, they have 13% flat income tax and ridiculous $40 annual property tax for $200,000 property. They even have more gun rights than most of Europe and some American states now.
What is the problem?

Most Russians I know do not detest the man. They simply feel that they have no power in choosing who they want to lead.

Putin’s support lies with the military. That is a scary fact.

I wouldn’t care if I was making good money, I want a voice. Descent is met with force.

Read up on Anna Politkovskaya.
