My priest said today that we must fight. He received a standing ovation.
Obama and his fascist friends have awakened a sleeping giant.
Our priest said the same thing. I know that he is not a fan of Obamas from having attending right to life meetings with him. Then again, I don’t really think anyone in our parish is either. On the way home from Mass this morning, I explained to my 13 year old daughter (who had just finished serving her second Mass) what it was all about. For the life of her, she can’t figure out why anyone voted for Obama. Smart girl ;)
Well it is about time.
Hopefully we can turn this mess around.
The situation is very good now: scary, but energizing, bracing. Born-to-be-cautious Bishops are saying words like “civil disobedience”. Pink-faced usually-smiling white-thatched Irish-surnamed gentlemen are searching their closets for their Knights of Columbus swords.
My only fear is that Obama will realize his tactical error and offer them a way to finesse it. The upper clergy will grab for a compromise the way drowning men grab for the nearest flotation device.
One can’t hope for evil. But I *almost* hope Obama gets his Herod up and says “NO compromise.” Our bishops, our priests, our Catholic selves need to face the Moment of Decision now, rather than wait until we’ve finessed so much we’ve forgotten how to fight.
