Who Would Jesus Tax?
Townhall.com ^ | February 5, 2012 | Doug Giles

This past Thursday at the National Prayer Breakfast, Obama said that his Christian faith crafts his domestic policies—particularly his desire to rob from the rich and give to the poor. In my humble opinion, I think the president is getting Jesus and His disciples confused with Robin Hood and his Merry Men.

I don’t know which White House wizard crafted that speech for him, but the verse he or she gave to our Spender in Chief to back his socialism was more twisted out of joint than a Gumby doll being worked over by a frustrated Gary Busey.

I can’t believe that hot coffee didn’t spew from hundreds of Christians’ mouths when Obama took a text that refers directly to believers’ judgment and contorted it to be interpreted as a ratcheted-up government imposed higher tax rate upon those who already bear the brunt of the tax burden.

From a theological standpoint it appears as if the president takes more of an eisegetical approach to Luke 12:48 than and exegetical one—which is convenient. But who are we to judge? Judge not.

Now … before I plow on with the topic of Obama’s Christian faith influencing his policies, I thought that in our current culture of sassy secularism elected officials, especially the president, are forbidden to merge biblical beliefs and public policy. Hell, GW couldn’t even tell Cheney “God bless ya” after Dick phlegmed his tie without Media Matters, Maddow and Matthews calling him a theocratic dominionist Nazi who was violating the Establishment Clause and who, left to his own devices, would be hanging homosexuals and burning Harry Potter books. Does Obama get a pass when he parlays his faith-based policies? Shucks … that ain’t fair, is it MSNBC?

I wish Christianity did influence Obama’s politics; if it truly did then there would be an end to abortion, bearing false witness, and obtrusive government and would allow for more liberty than ever before. In addition:

• The entitlement mentality would be history;
• We’d yield up a solid Protestant work ethic;
• We’d enforce a tougher immigration policy;
• Our military would be stronger;
• We’d have a balanced budget;
• We’d see a decrease in national debt and an end to prodigal spending;
• We’d have a defense of traditional marriage;
• And we’d revisit worshipping God rather than feckless humans and their stilted and stymied worldviews.

Lastly, with just a cursory glance at the gospels, the honest reader will note that Christ Jesus never commanded Caesar or Herod to collect taxes in order to take care of the poor. He told his disciples to give to the needy, of their own volition, as worship to God and in service to mankind, and only—only—when it’s done by these means and motivations is it deemed virtuous and Christian.

Oh, and by the way, the Scripture has a lot to say about taxes. Progressives might want to put on a cup before they click this hyperlink to see what “God” thinks about Obama’s tax plan.

Which Jesus does Obama believe in? The one in the Koran or the Bible?

Unfortunately there are many that just hear the name of Jesus but don’t hear the blasphamy.

I am NOT a bible scholar so forgive me if I am wrong- but wasn’t Jesus asked about taxes once and he said “Render unto Ceasar that which is Ceasar’s”, and when asked HOW MUCH he said that the church expects 10%, the government should expect no more.

Can you imaging how great life would be if we all donated 10% to charities and the government took only 10%

"Which Jesus does Obama believe in? The one in the Koran or the Bible?"

The one in the White House (and I'm not joking).

Jesus taught that the rich should be generous and give to the less fortunate.

I'm pretty sure he never said anything about the government stealing from the rich to buy votes from the poor.

Luke 19:24 “And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give [it] to him that hath ten pounds.(And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.)

For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him.”

Didn’t Robin Hood rob the tax collectors? And Obama makes Jesus out to be a champion of the tax collectors, ironically the Romans. Didn't Obama’s heroes the tax collector Roman’s crucify Jesus?

I think Obama is reading something else besides the Bible to get this, like Alinsky’s tactics.

And that WAS the U.S. before Woodrow Wilson shredded the constitution and took us down the "progressive" road.

6 In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers and sisters, to keep away from every believer who is idle and disruptive and does not live according to the teaching you received from us. 7 For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not idle when we were with you, 8 nor did we eat anyone’s food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you. 9 We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to offer ourselves as a model for you to imitate. 10 For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.”

11 We hear that some among you are idle and disruptive. They are not busy; they are busybodies. 12 Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the food they eat. 13 And as for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is good.

2 Thessalonians 3 (NIV)

You can’t be a follower of both Christ and Socialism.

Jesus never addressed tithing. St. Paul did much later in the formation of the early Church.

Jesus never said we need to give more to the government so they can waste our money. He asked everyone to do more by free choice (especially the rich), not be forced to give up their money to government programs and out-of-control waste.

The president is faking as usual.

I made the mistake of clicking on Drudge this morning. I had purposely kept away.

Romney is Obama - pray for our country - and pray hard.

The republican establishment has shown their true colors. Is the dinner party invitation in the beltway more important than the country?? It would seem so -

Rush/Hannity/Coulter/Beck - they are collaborating - someone must expose this man - he is an imposter - why is he getting a pass??

Six days you shall labor and do all your work, Exodus 23:9

Count all the men from thirty to fifty years of age who come to serve in the work at the tent of meeting. Numbers 4:30

The LORD your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands. Deuteronomy 2:7

Now Jeroboam was a man of standing, and when Solomon saw how well the young man did his work, he put him in charge of the whole labor force of the tribes of Joseph. 1 Kings 11:28

David also said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the LORD is finished. 1 Chronicles 28:20

Then Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and Joshua son of Jozadak set to work to rebuild the house of God in Jerusalem. And the prophets of God were with them, supporting them. Ezra 5:2

May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us— yes, establish the work of our hands. Psalm 90:17

All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty. Proverbs 14:23

So I saw that there is nothing better for a person than to enjoy their work, because that is their lot. Ecclesiastes 3:22

No longer will they build houses and others live in them, or plant and others eat. For as the days of a tree, so will be the days of my people; my chosen ones will long enjoy the work of their hands. Isaiah 65:22

The Bible is clear that we are expected to work for our living. I can’t find anyplace that suggests we take from those with more ability and give to those with more need...Oh, wait! Marx and Engels! Who hated Christianity and saw it as a great evil and created Marxism as its alternative and plotted to destroy Christianity. So the new ‘Christianity’ is the old destruction of Christianity. Now I understand!

“free choice ...” that is my mantra as well.
I always refer everyone to the success of Father Baker in Buffalo - Our Lady of Victory - He hassled the Buffalonians out of their ten cents - then he turned people around at his so called “poor house” -

Forced tithing is a thin disguise for bribery. The ones who tithe have the power/ Jesus knew our fallen nature well.
