I am NOT a bible scholar so forgive me if I am wrong- but wasn’t Jesus asked about taxes once and he said “Render unto Ceasar that which is Ceasar’s”, and when asked HOW MUCH he said that the church expects 10%, the government should expect no more.

The “render unto” advice was a response to a question (put to him by hostile critics hoping to trip Him up) asking whether it was PERMISSIBLE to pay taxes, under Jesus’ principles.

The answer was that if Caesar’s picture is on the coin, it’s the realm of Caesar, and there’s no sin in paying it to him.

This was not about whether it is desirable for governments to tax.

Matthew Ch. 22
15 Then the Pharisees went away to work out between them how to trap him in what he said.

16 And they sent their disciples to him, together with some Herodians, to say, ‘Master, we know that you are an honest man and teach the way of God in all honesty, and that you are not afraid of anyone, because human rank means nothing to you.

17 Give us your opinion, then. Is it permissible to pay taxes to Caesar or not?’

18 But Jesus was aware of their malice and replied, ‘You hypocrites! Why are you putting me to the test?

19 Show me the money you pay the tax with.’ They handed him a denarius,

20 and he said, ‘Whose portrait is this? Whose title?’

21 They replied, ‘Caesar’s.’ Then he said to them, ‘Very well, pay Caesar what belongs to Caesar — and God what belongs to God.’

22 When they heard this they were amazed; they left him alone and went away.

The wikipedia article on this isn’t too bad:

I don’t think he’s getting Jesus confused with Robin Hood. I think rather he’s confusing Jesus with Marx.

To pay his taxes Jesus went fishing. He plucked a coin from the mouth of the first fish he caught and paid his taxes. Presumedly the fish belonged to Caesar. Far from voting for Obama Jesus would more likely tell him to go fish.
As to the much-has-been-given/much-will-be-demanded trope, Obama has thoroughly convoluted his metaphores. The government, for example, does not give. It takes away. Those to whom much has been given are held accountable for properly husbanding their resources, not squandering them.
Government is a form of forced squandering in which resources that are built up are confiscated under dire threat for extraneous purposes. Jesus never advocated a protection racket as a means of accumulating the wealth of others for one’s own nefarious ends.
Once again Obama’s madness is on display. He is a man of no ability.

Who would Jesus tax?

Continuing in this vein, there are other questions we could ask that would no doubt be of great interest to the conniving, self-clever liberal mind...

Who would Jesus murder?

Who would Jesus steal from?

Who would Jesus lie to?

Who would Jesus swear at?

Who would Jesus commit adultery with?

Who's property would Jesus covet?

Libtards think they're so clever in their ridiculous attempts to "trap" conservatives and devout religious people. Always go back to their fundamental severely flawed premises and don't play their game. ALL the questions are ridiculous because none are things Jesus would do at all - for reasons obvious to all but libtards.

We’d probably all do well to realize there is a Kingdom that swallows anything conceived on earth by humankind.

It is the one that actually offers the abundant life many seem to be seeking. It is about knowing the Father and much of it is paradoxical to anything espoused by liberals, conservatives, republicans or democrats.

Be careful what you claim for God because 99% of it flows from our flesh and its plans and needs, not God’s purpose.

Yes, he robbed those who collected taxes from the poor.

Jesus would tax no one. He would ask everyone to voluntarily give up everything they owe and follow him. This is not very complicated. His quotes stating this have been captured and written down in a book called the Bible.

RE:”Yes, he (Robin) robbed those who collected taxes from the poor.

That reminds me. I bet Boehner and House Republicans have come up with no political strategy to put Obama on the defensive regarding the FICA/SS payroll tax cut extensions. Expect them to make more noise then cave again.

Dem's position is simple : Run deficits buying votes till after the election and call it 'jobs' and 'fairness' and 'fighting for the middle class'. Congressional Republicans cant agree on a united (political) consistent position which is why they get whipped, one side united, the other divided.,

Robin Hood was not robbing from the rich so much as he was robbing from the tax collector. And, he was giving it back to the poor.

Not to leave out Senate Republicans: they made that temporary deal with Obama with no apparent strategy for taking the offensive over it's expiration.

The only good part of the deal was to force Obama to take a position on the Oil Pipeline.

Thanks for the post Kaslin. Doug Giles is absolutely a favorite around here, and this post with link to the steady conservative is typical of why we really like Doug Giles.

Who Would Jesus Tax?
This past Thursday at the National Prayer Breakfast, Obama said that his Christian faith crafts his domestic policies -- particularly his desire to rob from the rich and give to the poor.
Uh-huh, it's easy for Obama to say that as he's the son of The Great Deceiver, Satan, and is the Antichrist.

The fact is Jesus would 'tax' nobody. The general principle of a tax is to covet, to take something from another, the rich, just because they have 'it' and 'you' don't. And Jesus would never covet -- period, end. Taxing the 'rich' is also a display of envy. Another thing Jesus would never be, envious of others.

An 'Obama' is what results when one gets their 'Christian teachings' from a FALSE prophet. Like the 'rev' Wright who replaced Christianity with Communism.

Who Would Jesus Tax?

Probally the stupidest question I ever saw..
Jesus was not a President. Was not a Government. Was not a politician.
He would not tax anyone as that man way..
