Latinos, hit hard by job losses, are making strong comeback

Reporting from Washington—

After scraping by on handyman jobs for a year, Bert Qintana figured he'd have to leave his wife and teenage son at their home near Taos, N.M., and find work elsewhere.

Then Qintana got a call last month from Chevron Mining, which runs a mine 20 miles away. Would he be interested in hauling muck from the molybdenum mine for $17.05 an hour? He leaped at the offer.

(SNIP) While they make up only 15% of the country's workforce, Latinos have racked up half the employment gains posted since the economy began adding jobs in early 2010, Labor Department data showed.

So far, Latinos are the only demographic group whose employment numbers have returned to pre-recession levels.

Actual hiring comes from real data obtained by the BLS establishment survey of 400,000 businesses.

The numbers used to compute unemployment rates come from a survey of 60,000 households.

Change the meaning of answers to the household survey's questions (and BLs can do that) to mean that people are no longer in the "pool" causes the unemployment rate to go down. Then extrapolate that to stand for 300+ million people where fewer people are participating. BLS admits to something like 1.2 million fewer, how many fewer Hispanic I do not know. Black unemployment rate went down also.. how many fewer black are participating?

Obama is using an old trick but it appears to be working; to wit, ignore millions of citizens as if they did not exist.

A number of policies were introduced which caused the unemployment figures to drop. Women were no longer included in the statistics so any women who remained out of work under the Nazi’s rule did not exist as far as the statistics were concerned.

In 1932-33 Hitler promised to reduce the unemployment rate. He did it. Obama is doing it too using Hitler's little tricks.

"I never see, Italians hit hard by unemployment, Polish hit hard by unemployment, Irish hit hard by unemployment."

You would, but only if they voted over 90% Democrat.
