If Fox Fails Us
American Thinker ^ | Feb 6, 2012 | Bruce Walker

Over the last decade, conservatives have enjoyed Fox News, a national news network which has given conservatives a fair shake and which has been willing to expose the bigotry of the establishment media towards conservatism. Yet there is the chance that Fox News, when owner Rupert Murdoch dies, may drift towards the lockstep leftism so characteristic of other news networks.

FOXNEWS has already failed us by deciding to support Romney and the Republican establishment, instead of presenting a fair and balanced debate of the primary candidates.

It's ironic that this article ends by suggesting that the internet will supply the next wave of conservative media. FREEREPUBLIC seems to offer a shining example of that potential.

Fox has definitely failed. The news has always been manipulated to some degree. It was done back in the Rev War to build support for separating from the British.

Today technology allows it to be coordinated to a much greater extent. Also, its being done by Americans seeking to bring down America. In our past its always been done to build up the Nation.

FOX News is one of the MOST biased news sources.

It is Romney/BAIN/Obama 24/7.

And worse, they have absolutely no shame about it.

fox was never around to make conservatives happy . it might have realized that a quick-gain audience could be garnered through placating conservatives but it is just around to make dollars for its investors. that includes snatching up “moderates” out there in tv land . sounds a lot like the Bush-Rove doctrine of trying to destroy the democrat party by making the republican party a big tent to everybody. see how well that worked out?

I’d point you at Sky News, The Times, The Sun - all owned by Murdoch and all “supposedly” to the right of the political spectrum.

They are not. Sure, they talk the talk, while slamming out large doses of left propaganda. Just taking Fox a while to catch up.
Murdoch came out publically for Santorum, I believe (read it on here a while back). His news organisations are all in for Romney, and he runs a very tight ship as far as tone and editorial goes. Seen that first hand.
Tells you where his true loyalities lie, he has always been in it purely for himself.

It would seem that a Tea-Party oriented news channel would be an instant winner. I am frankly surprised that some rich conservative has not already launched one.

Of course, the advertisers on that channel would be instantly excoriated by the Left, some to the point where they wouldn’t advertise at all.

I still think it would work, and work well.

I’ve been wondering whether FR could break into radio or internet tv like gbtv. I wish beck didn’t annoy me so much, and I wish gbtv was free, relying on advertisers to pay, and or make reruns free.

FRTV has a ring to it.

The theme of this article wasn’t really Fox News. It was about conservatives having alternative sources and strategies for overcoming bias from the left in the major broadcast and cable news outlets. They mentioned radio, books, articles, and the internet.

All true.

However, the article misses a crucial issue. Speed.

The MSM can have their bias out and around the world twice before those other forms of media can give counter-information. Speed is a huge advantage on any battlefield, and it is in information warfare as well.

It means the MSM enemy ALWAYS gets to set the agenda, frame the issue, and characterize the combatants. That means that the conservative alternative media is always playing catch up and redefinition.

With some long term concerns like abortion that is ok.

But with something like a political campaign in which speed and defining one’s enemy is crucial, the MSM has it head and shoulders over the redefinition assets of the conservative alternatives.

If conservatives truly desire to be engaged in the communication wars, then they must find a means of getting their message to the masses AS QUICKLY as does the MSM. I don’t see that at their hands at the moment in terms of technology. The only way to do it at this point will be with such amazing organization that they can NOTICEABLY get their message to every home in America in a matter of minutes.

They must find a way to seize the initiative rather than always be reacting.

My wife said she has gotten to the point she’d just as rather watch CNN. She says at least with them she KNOWS where they stand. Fox pretends to be something they’re not. I’ve stopped watching them. I know lots of conservatives who’ve stopped watching them. Their ratings have gone up which means more liberals are watching.

Roger Ailes leaned right when the network started. His turn to the left took a sharp and fast increase after his meeting with Soros.

I sometimes watch Fox Business and have not watched FNC in almost a year. Strange, since I was one of those who had the FNC log burned into the LLH corner of my old plasma TV screen :)

” it is just around to make dollars for its investors.”

Simplistic view.

These media companies support an obvious globalist agenda which they push regardless of its impact on the bottom line.

Newsweek, MSNBC, NYT, ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC and a host of other dinosaur media outlets all demonstrate their priorities.
