33 Members of Congress Earmarked $300 Million For Projects That Benefited Their Own Private Property
Big Government ^ | February 7, 2012 | Wynton Hall

Borrowing a page from Breitbart editor Peter Schweizer’s investigation of how elected officials funnel taxpayer dollars to projects that increase the value of properties they own, the Washington Post has conducted a study revealing that 33 members of Congress earmarked more than $300 million for projects within two miles of land they own...

The bigger issue here is that none of these projects are any business of the federal government - they are all properly local or state.

Federal earmarks promote trough-grubbing - turn all of us into porkers trying to get our share - and are inherently inefficient - sending the money to DC and back again with bureaucratic losses on the way.

I cannot express strongly enough the contempt I hold for those bastards and the corruption they will continue. And Obama. I have never despised and detested a human being so strongly as I do Obama. Obama is a Judean-Christian hating Islamic/Marxist with no love for the Constitution of the United States of America. Damn Obama to hell.

A MOST BLATANT USE OF ELECTIVE OFFICE---The scandal of profiting from inside info recently surfaced. Somebody ought to check ex-Sen Jon Corzine's investments----and his earmarks--- at that time).

BACKSTORY Then-US Sen Jon Corzine (D-NJ), used elected office to pass a special tax exemption for a Japanese bank he owned----G/S crony Christopher Flowers---adminstrator of Corzine's "blind trust"--- used Corzine's assets to takeover the Japanese bank. Corzine said he "did not know" the legislation he sponsored benefited him. (God only knows the insider deals he made with other Senators to get the bill passed.

(b) FAST FORWARD---Now he's Gov Corzine. He and Brad Abelow---appointed as NJ Treasury Secy---formed a private investmnent firm------the tw financisl geniuses said they "did not know" that move was illegal for govt officials. (c) Several NJ agencies went bankrupt with huge pots of money under Gov Corzine. $8B went missing from the Schools Bldg fund.

(d) Corzine, Abelow and Flowers---G/S cronies---all ended up at MF Global and presided over the disappearance of $1.2 billion.

All of this is no coincidence. Self-serving Corzine has always been about using public office to personally profit.

======================================

UPDATE This past Thursday, the US Senate passed the STOCK Act, legislation that would ban members of congress from insider trading......despite Senate carping abiout amendments.

Earlier news reports indicated Congress is already subject to insider trading laws----but it is currently within the law for a lawmaker to buy a company’s stock after learning, for example, that an upcoming Congressional bill will grant that company a large government contract.

The STOCK (Stop Trading On Congressional Knowledge) Act passed in the wake of a “60 Minutes” expose on congressional insider trading had several amendments including a proposal that senators be prevented from owning individual stocks unless they are in a blind trust, and another that senators who become lobbyists lose their pension.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THOSE BAILOUTS?---HSBC Accused of Laundering Billions of Dollars
WorldNetDaily.com / Dr. Jerome Corsi
FR Posted Dr. Thorne

NEW YORK – A former employee of HSBC in New York has 1,000 pages of customer account records he claims are evidence of an international money-laundering scheme involving hundreds of billions of dollars by the global banking giant, which reportedly is under investigation by a U.S. Senate committee.

John Cruz has delivered to WND customer account records he says he pulled from the HSBC computer system before he was fired. Cruz was terminated Feb. 17, 2010, after two years at HSBC for “poor performance,” but he contends he was let go because senior management didn’t want to him to pursue his personal investigation (Excerpt) Read more at wnd.com ...

HSBC indirectly received $3.5 Billion of AIG bailout money
BLOG hsbcwatch.com

The US Govt bailout of AIG angered many. AIG tried to put a positive spin on post-bailout posh parties, bonuses, more bailouts and more losses.

So what is HSBC’s relationship to AIG? How much did HSBC receive from AIG?

According to Business Week, HSBC received $3.5 Billion (USD) from AIG (reported in Business Week article).

HSBC USA is an AIG counter-party. While HSBC did not directly take bailout money AIG certainly did. Through insurance and reinsurance deals with AIG, HSBC USA profited nicely from the AIG bailout.

After one write-off, a second $3.5 Billion write off for HSBC would have hurt.....had AIG not received taxpayer bailouts.

It would have been super-easy to launder some of the bailout $$$ for insiders (see all the nasty details above).

Well Jukeman, here’s aother half billion going down the tubes from Obamas “investments” in Green Glop for the good of the USA:

n another setback for President Obama’s clean energy loan programs, the recipient of more than a half-billion dollars in federal loans is laying off workers at their Delaware and California operations.

Delaware’s News Journal reports that isker Automotive, a California-based electric car start-up company, is laying off an undisclosed number of staff to try to reserve enough capital in order to qualify for more federal help from the Department of Energy, according to a Delaware state development official.

“They’re trying to preserve the cash that they have,” said Alan Levin told the News Journal. “And unfortunately, until they meet the milestone that DOE continues to set … they’re not able to access the additional capital that they need.”

The company also came under fire last year for taking federal loans while producing cars in Finland.

"Rep. Doc Hastings (R-WA): scored $750,000"

I live in Doc Hastings District and I can tell you that these earmarks are for a 75 year old underpass that the railroad goes over top. It is only 2 lanes and connects the West side of the city to the East side. I can't see that fixing this mess will help his brothers paper company anymore than it will help the whole community. Also there is a cross street just as you come out from under that underpass so people crossing or coming out are very much in danger of getting hit.

They are planning on an OVERPASS just north of this but they still don't have all the property needed.

Doc Hastings is a very good representative.
As teenagers everyone loved going through this and honking their horns.

I remember the small town I grew up in. The Mayor just happened to have the rode to his house paved by the city. Just happened to sell his swampy land for the Federal Housing Project that brought several hundred low level people into a town of less than 1000 people. This stuff happens at every level of government.

That reminds me of a double underpass in my home town. It
dated to the 40s. Every time there was a heavy rain, several
times each summer, it would flood. Lots of folks lost their
cars under those bridges.
