Rep. Myrick announces she’ll retire this year

Rep. Sue Myrick (R-N.C.) will not run for reelection in November, the nine-term congresswoman announced Tuesday.

First elected in 1994, Myrick was one of the first Republicans to join the Tea Party Caucus in the House, and served on the Energy and Commerce and Intelligence committees.

I would like her to run for NC Senate. Wish she would consider it.

Yes, I wish she would challenge Hagan in 2014. We will still need more seats in the Senate after this November election.

I know she is one of ours and maybe it is only me, but does anyone else feel a little squeamish with the idea of a politician “retiring” from serving their country?
