This is how it happens, folks. Little by little. Law by law. The proponents of sharia get themselves elected to positions of power – and then, before too long, they start trying to subject the rest of us to it, bit by bit:

These are days in which it is good to be old.

A big amen to that. I often say that to myself after reading the political news, thinking that, well, at least I won't be around when all this hits the fan. And having no children, I sleep well at night, knowing that I'm not part of the generation that bequeaths them with this mess.

Of course, I still am concerned about other people's children and I do my best to fight the forces that threaten to engulf the best political system that man has ever enjoyed.

Anyone who truly loves their dog will not feed him/her grains in kibble.

What an elitist comment. ( i love my dog MORE than you because *I* feed my dog people food or an expesnive food or .........)
You PETA or HSUS ?

Who are you question ANYONE on their feelings for their critters ? Especially based upon what they may or may not feed their critters ?

Wild dogs, wolves, coyotes etc.. eat greens, grass, grains, etc....all the time.

And I've seen my dogs do the same....Watched my dogs eat wild black berries..and they apparently loved them.

I'm with you...as to not feeding my dogs only dried food...that is mostly grain. I feed them a well rounded diet. And all my dogs over the years have been healthy and happy.

Do you drink milk?

I do think you have over-reacted to my comment, without thinking it through.

There are many kibbles/manufactured foods on the market that do not contain grains. Dogs do not have the ability to digest grains.

Read up a bit on the subject. Tom Lonsdale has a good website explaining the deleterious long term effect on canine health of cheap commercial kibble.

Perhaps if I should have said that if anyone wants to have a healthy dog with minimal or nonexistent vet bills should not feed him/her grains in kibble. Is that better?

Wait a minute. I thought CA was pushing for a law to allow folks to marry their dog. Did that law get tabled?

She sounds like our Hannah, who used to lie down parallel to us, with her body right on my side, and she wouldn’t move from that position until I told her to.

>>When did you ever see a dog grazing in a wheat, rice, or corn field?<<

When they take down the squirrel that just ate the corn from the field and consume the stomach.

If you feed a dog (any carnivore) exclusively flesh they will not be healthy. We don’t feed our animals whole kill. In the wild, they would get it in their diet by eating the digestive tracks.

One of the saddest videos I’ve ever seen.... a loyal dog by his dead owner’s side:

We should call for a ban on Muslims on public transport and in certain public spaces on the grounds that their presence violates a dogs right to live in accordance with their desire to be man’s best friend.
When a dog befriends you there is no ambiguity, he will be your friend for life, sacrificing his life to protect you.
When a Muslim says he wants to be your friend put your back firmly against a solid wall and keep your dominant hand on a weapon and the other hand on your wallet.

It's probably because his family nickname is "Stinky".

Knowing his sexual proclivities, he probably smells like a$$...

I agree with you, at least in part.

But, let’s think about it a bit. What percentage of the overall body weight of the squirrel is the corn in the stomach?

Isn’t the corn “unprocessed”, and isn’t it also mixed with the digestive enzymes in the quarrel’s stomach?

Compare that to the crummy denatured overly processed poor quality corn mixed in with dog food, and maybe you will understand my position.

I agree that “exclusively flesh is not a healthy diet. Dogs need organ meats, raw bone with the marrow for all the enzymes, and small amounts of ripe fruits which they might find in nature.

Some folks actually do feed whole kill. I don’t, but try to get an approximation by including the above in his meals.

My reward is clean teeth, sweet breath, no body odor, healthy coats, no itching, far fewer fleas or ticks, if any at all.

Best reward to me is that the poops are quite firm, much less stinky, and crumble away to a white powder after a few days in the sun. Oh, and I don’t have to express their anal glands, because the firmer stool takes care of that.

But, to each his own. I offer my opinion only for consideration of the benefits.

“Can’t be around dogs, chess, kites, or music - normal things of life, cuz they aren’t normal...”

Those are only a few. They seem to disapprove of most of our western culture. I see their problem as having no love, acceptance, tolerance for others. Just total control over every aspect of a person’s life. That is why I feel strongly that Islam is not a religion, but a cult.

I don’t kill my Papillon’s dinner, nor do I spend a whole lot of time and money feeding her.
Iams mixed with live cultured yogurt gives me all the benefits you describe.

And it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.

No, I did not over react to your comment. You said it in an eliest very judgmental way. Perhaps you didn’t mean to come acrorss that way but you did.

I know all I want and need to know about the nutrition/diet debates. I’ve debated and read for over 10 years on the subject with my labrador friends ( literally thousands of them ).

You said .....( direct quote )”tPerhaps if I should have said that if anyone wants to have a healthy dog with minimal or nonexistent vet bills should not feed him/her grains in kibble. Is that better ?” ( end quote )

No, it’s not judgmental or elitist but it’s not better.

Why isn’t it any better ? Because I can blow that theory outta the water over 500 times.
I can blow it outta the water 2 times right now with my own 2 labradors.

One will be 11 years old in April. The only thing she’s had surgery for was a spay. She’s healthy and fit.
My 7 year old has only had a spay surgery and an emergency C section because of a stuck puppy ( we lost him btw ). Both are retired from showing and motherhood. Both have OFA certifications on their hips and elbows. The old dog has her OFA heart clearance/certification from a veterinary cardiologist via echo .

They’ve both been fed a kibble diet with grains their whole life GASP GASP and my yearly vet bill, under 200 bucks for BOTH dogs.
Yes, that is minimal for heartworm med, office call, vaccinations, annual exam.

Now recenly I did take my 7 year old to have her mouth looked at . I thought she had something wrong with her bottom gums but she was A OKAY.... my bill......30 bucks.
Twenty was for the office call and 10 was for the exam.

Unless they need a check up for something I’m not sure about, we go and that’s only happened once or twice in the last 5 years.

Where do enviroment and genetics take play in a “healthy dog “ ? They have to account for something.

Diet alone is not the sole factor on a dogs health.

Enjoy your furry pal. I enjoy mine. They are treasured and very loved family members .

Good night FRiend ~

Blessings to you and yours.
