Santorum Delivers a GOP Stunner [Shoe-String Budget: Clean Sweep: Hat-Trick: Wins MN; MO, and CO!]

Santorum Delivers a GOP Stunner Former Senator Wins in Minnesota, Missouri; Romney Campaign Plays Down Nonbinding Contests

By NEIL KING JR. And DANNY YADRON

DENVER—Rick Santorum jolted the Republican presidential race Tuesday by winning nominating contests in Missouri and Minnesota, puncturing Mitt Romney's claim to be the unstoppable front-runner.

Mr. Santorum, a former Pennsylvania senator, was running neck and neck with Mr. Romney in preliminary returns from Colorado, a state Mr. Romney won by a wide margin in 2008.

With about 70% of the Colorado vote counted, Mr. Santorum had 38%, to 36% for Mr. Romney. Four years ago, Mr. Romney carried Colorado with 60% of the vote.

Mr. Santorum's twin victories in the Midwest will give his campaign a much-needed burst of momentum and may stir doubt about Mr. Romney's abilities to woo conservatives to his side in important electoral states such as Missouri. So far, Mr. Romney has won in states where he has devoted significant campaign time and advertising dollars.

Mr. Santorum won 55% of the Missouri vote, while Mr. Romney followed with 25%. Texas Rep. Ron Paul was trailing with 12%. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich wasn't on the Missouri ballot.

Mr. Santorum's Missouri victory margin of almost 75,000 votes over Mr. Romney was nearly 29,000 more than Mr. Romney's combined Iowa and Nevada total.

While the Tuesday results didn't directly award any of the delegates needed to claim the GOP nomination, they showed voters rejecting Mr. Romney even in states where he had performed well four years ago.

Mr. Romney had carried Minnesota in 2008 but placed third there on Tuesday. With 85% of precincts in, Mr. Santorum had 45% of the vote, while Mr. Paul had 27%. Mr. Romney had 17% of the vote and Mr. Gingrich claimed 11%.

“Per the latest Rasmussen poll, Obama has somehow managed to get back into positive approval - 51% approval vs. 48% disapproval.”

The reason is obvious. The media and the ignorant lemmings follow the unemployment number as if it were a decree from God.

That 8.3% number means nothing. We have lost tons of workers who do not even show up in the Labor Dept’s numbers. But do you think most Americans know this? Hell no they don’t!

Which is why we’re screwed unless we can somehow relay this fact to the masses. Eff the media and doubleEFF Obama.

This is why Romney is the worse pick. The only thing he has is making money (some think that much money makes you out of touch) if the economy is better Obama wins against Romney. that is all romney has.

If Rick can change this race to the freedoms Obama is stealing ( Rick has been talking about this everywhere he goes) we win.

Rick can still talk about the economy but show how Obama messing with our businesses is hurting the economy. then he can say this is important but look at our personal freedoms we are losing and how he is changing our society to look like hollywood. he can talk about o czars and how much power they have and the mandates...and the epa hurting farmers with crazy rules...and parents rights to teach their children there values not
about sex in kindergartner that czar push...our kids need to stay innocent as long as possible all while having his family standing behind him.

NO ONE HAS INFORMED THE PUBLIC OF THE CRAZIES,CZARS, AND THERE IDEAS. IF RICK COULD TELL WHAT IS GOING ON PEOPLE WILL (BAD BAD WORD) HOW ABOUT THE GUY WHO THINKS ITS OK TO SEND GAYS INTO SCHOOLS TO TEACH KIDS DIFERENT WAYS TO HAVE SEX....WE'RE TALKING GRADE SCHOOL KIDS.

I think he could wake a sleeping giant.

I think we're seeing the early sign that we're headed toward a brokered convention.

If we see a rebound by Gingrich in States like Ohio, Georgia and Tenn on Super Tuesday I'd say an exciting open convention in Tampa is imminent.

America hasn't seen such an event since 1940 and it might be just the type of event that America needs to restore itself.

“BTW: Who made more money at it, Newt or Santorum? I’ll bet you know the answer too.”

I don’t care who made more money at it.

I want a conservative, and both qualify, IMO.

At this point, I’m not that picky...

Everything you said.

Silver lining at least, tonight puts another dent in the “inevitable Romney” narrative.

“Minnesota you have just redeemed yourselves from electing Jesse Ventura.”

What penance do we have to pay for putting (albeit, fraudulently) Al France in the Senate, then?

Everything you and DixieChick said.
I’m so happy to see big bad Mitt the RINO dog abuser taken down a few, and a his overboard self-righteous balloon deflated.
Let the process work itself through; let the people speak.

None of the four are “great” choices against 0. But with Gingrich and Romney fading in polls vs Obama, what`s left? Paul? No thanks.

"Maybe we are finally opening our hearts to God and seeing Rick, though flawed, speaks to his values. Just a thought."

He also lives his values. Our friend worked for him when he was our Senator. When she encountered a health crisis and the health insurer was denying her some of the care she needed, he personally interceded. Not only was her (very expensive) care secured, so was her job. He held her position open for her during months of incapacity until she was ready to come back. I always had a lot of respect for him for living his values and being a fundamentally decent human being.

I still gotta believe that being the religious candidate at the time that the Marxist-Alinsky radicals (spoiled brats actually) opened fire on Christians helped attract a lot of votes for Santorum -- and those attacks on Christians are going get a lot of people out to vote in November.

Stop the calls, we have a winner.
