Alyssa Bustamante

A Missouri teenager who told authorities she wanted to know what it felt like to kill pleaded guilty Tuesday to murder, telling a judge that she strangled a 9-year-old neighbor with her hands, stabbed her in the chest and cut her throat with a knife.

Alyssa Bustamante pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the Oct. 21, 2009, killing of Elizabeth Olten in St. Martins, a rural town just west of Jefferson City.

Cole County Circuit Judge Patricia Joyce then asked Bustamante to describe what she did.

“I strangled her and stabbed her in the chest.” Bustamante said in a clear voice, looking straight at the judge.

“Did you cut her throat too?” the judge asked.

“Yes,” Bustamante responded.

9-year-old Elizabeth Olten - Cole County Sheriff's Department

Bustamante, who is to turn age 18 on Jan. 28, was 15 at the time of the slaying and lived just a few homes down the road from Elizabeth. She told the judge Tuesday that she knew what she was doing when she strangled Elizabeth with her hands and used a knife to attack her. Upon hearing that confession, Elizabeth’s mother Patty Preiss – who was sitting in the courtroom just a few feet away – took a deep breath and dabbed her eyes with a tissue. The child’s mother was there to hear that… that’s gotta be a rough one for a parent to hear. This whole thing is senseless. If it were my child, I don’t know if I would ever got over something like this. Preiss wore a purple shirt with her daughter’s picture and the words “Justice for Elizabeth.” She left the courthouse without talking to the media.

We are going to see more and more of this. Smart adults (Doctors, engineers, scientists, chemists, biologists, ect) are marrying later, and having fewer children. Stupid, irresponsible and mentally dysfunctional people are reproducing like flies.

Mike Judge is the prophet of our times.

What makes my blood run cold is the fact that this girl actually looked into the 9 year old’s eyes while she killed her. She had to be close and watching her while she chocked, stabbed and then cut her throat. I’m not a psychiatrist but seems to me this girl either wanted to be a serial killer (thus the two graves) or is well on her way to becoming one. IMHO.

Kinda reminds me of this case:

Why Did Eric Kill (video): http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=660422n

The murder of Derrick Robie by Eric Smith happened in my neck of the woods, south of Rochester. It was an awful, senseless murder. Here's the memorial statue of Derrick that was erected in him memory by the baseball field in Savona, NY, not far from where Eric Smith murdered him:

Isn’t it amazing how the world just comes into focus when you ask for and allow the Truth to enter your life?

Immediately thought of that tragedy in the Southern Tier as well. I can still picture the news stories showing Smith and tryng to reconcile what/why this little red haired kid with glasses could do such evil.

Citation?

Here’s something to chew on.

Prescribing drugs to these depressed, troubled children didn’t solve a damn thing. It only masked a problem and made it worse. We load up our children with poisonous foods and then try to cure them with more poison. I stand by my original statement.

Yes. The search was painful, but immeasurably worthwhile. I now have deep, unshakeable faith, because I’ve considered and rejected virtually everything else.

I understand that I should never fear truth, in any form, and that any apparent contradiction in the faith is just that, apparent. I also learned to live without contradiction.

“I ain’t hiding from nobody, nobody’s hiding from me.”

When you fully believe that Jesus is who He claimed to be, and you know that God is Goodness Itself, He can only will what is good for you, so there is no conceivable reason to disobey Him. In time, you find that, in obeying Him in good times and bad, you are truly happy, and no earthly circumstance shakes you. Surprise, surprise. Maybe God knows what He’s doing...

I am also understanding of and sympathetic toward confused youth.

Anyone honestly searching for the truth is a friend of Jesus. Even an honest, seeking, atheist.

I left out an important part of my journey.

My freshman year of college, I was majoring in a high-paying field (which wasn’t my calling) and had a beautiful girlfriend. I thought I had it made. I remember where I was when I said to myself, “I’m all set now, God. I’ll get back to you before I die.” The thought of it still gives me a chill. My life started to fall apart shortly thereafter.

The bottom fell out. Four years later I was in a black depression, but at my lowest, most hopeless point, I offered my most sincere prayer: “God, please help me!”

Looking back, that was the clear turning point in my life.

I share this story with the hope that it will benefit someone else.

“I stand by my original statement.”

In other words, you are making it up as you go.

You stick with voodoo, let the grownups stick with science.

BTW, Dr. Wilson also advocates and has a how-to for coffee enemas.

we were watching a documentary a couple of weeks ago about the BTK killer.
When he was asked about his first murders - the killing of the Otero family, he said the same thing this girl said.
He wanted to know what it felt like to murder someone.
He liked it.
This girl liked it too.

They should never let her out.

Prosecutors also cited journal entries in which Bustamante described the exhilaration of killing Elizabeth.

"I strangled them and slit their throat and stabbed them now they're dead," Bustamante wrote in her diary, which was read in court by a handwriting expert.

"I don't know how to feel atm. It was ahmazing. As soon as you get over the 'ohmygawd I can't do this' feeling, it's pretty enjoyable. "I'm kinda nervous and shaky though right now. I gotta go to church now...lol."

Should never be released. Never.
