Yes...that’s how bad it is.

Fortunately, Oregon has cleaned up it’s act.

I have great faith in Gov. Martinez.

I didn’t know you lived there!

Your friend should have turned him in for applying for a job with a fake SS#; your friend is lucky he wasn’t penalized as an innocent player in it.

The Immigration Reform Control Act [IRCA] of 1986 makes it a CRIME for the employer NOT to notify the authorities [once the illegal status is known].

While he could possibly be found NOT to be liable for prosecution PRIOR to knowing the man is illegal - he IS NOW liable for knowingly employing an illegal.

If ICE raids his place - he will be in deep kimchi. Better he drop a dime on his employee [the Feds might decline to prosecute your friend], or get rid of the employee all together ...

As long as the backbone special interests of both Parties have a vested interest in making it easier for illegals, the effort to minimize illegal immigration is an uphill climb.

The US Chamber of Commerce is a huge lobbyist for cheap labor meaning lax border security and wanting amnesty. Illegals would stay home if not for someone giving them a job.

The penalty for those who hire illegals should be a felony, just it is for anyone who makes a copy of one of Hollywood’s $5 DVDs. It isn’t a felony for employers because they and their lobbyists own Congress, and it is a felony for DVDs because Hollywood owns Congress.

If we the people had the right to petition for a binding referendum on this discussion, it would sidestep the influence buyers to our corrupt legislatures. Then the SCOTUS would have their say.
