It is not just a “birth control” issue, nor is it only a “morning after” pill issue. It is not even only a freedom of conscience issue for religious organizations. It is a LIBERTY issue. It shows how the passage of Obamacare suddenly allows the Government to utilize its awesome coercive powers to control people’s most basic choices (nothing is more basic than control over your body, what goes into it, and who pays for it whether they like it or not). This is just the beginning. Roe v. Wade was just one issue and you can see how it has divided this country to this day. Obamacare will be a thousand Roe v. Wade’s. The Government will be able to tell employers what insurance they can or cannot provide, for free or for a fee, and wait till they approve or not approve payment for “controversial” drugs. This will show how the Government literally has life or death power over its citizens. This will finally show the nature of liberalism free of artifice: a jack booted ideology that thinks nothing of enforcing its preferences by force.

The one thing that may save him will be if the Supremes toss Obamacare in it’s entirety this summer, rendering these policies moot.

Irony, the Mark of Quality Literature.

He should have Pelosi speak about it some more.

Pelosi is God's gift to Republicans. Yes, let he speak some more on how Courageous it is for Democrats to oppose the Catholic Church (her church).

It would make another great Ad along with "We have to pass this bill so you can find out what's in it"

Please look at the BIG picture...Why is the govenment telling ANY EMPLOYER that they have to provide birth control?

Excellent point. As the Catholic proprietor of a business that insures it's employees, why should I be forced to violate my conscience any more than Notre Dame or Mercy Hospital?

What the law does is basically saying is YOU are to be part of Planned Parenthood....without the name.

Okay...so you don't want to do that....so we'll have to bring in MORE Planned Parenthood bases and "we the governnment" will pick up the tab.

Because our Senators and Representatives, elected by we the people, think it is a good thing to do.

John Fund pretty much settled the question on Hannity. If the federal government wanted to assure universal access to contraceptives (and abortifacients), it could give them out on street-corners. There are hundreds of solutions if access is the problem. But that’s decidedly not what the Obama administration has in mind. It’s not even a matter of getting someone else to pick up the tab (Planned Parenthood & local state- and community-funded clinics are already doing exactly that—on tax-payer money, of course). Pure and simple, it’s an attack on the enemies of abortion.

The thing that I see missing is all this is what about the RIGHTS OF ALL EMPLOYERS (not merely religious institutions).

Why should a Roman Catholic hospital be exempt from going against conscience, and individual employers are not?

Why should an evangelical, or Roman Catholic, or heck, and atheist, business owner be forced to pay for services of any kind—especially if he (alone...as he is paying the bill...) considers them unethical?

So now religious GROUPS are more free in their conscience than individuals? What kind of 1st Amendment protection is that—which leaves individuals out?

“Exactly, we should not be directing our wrath at the commie that ignorance elected.

We should be directing it at those we elected to stop him.”

AMEN!!! Although our fury is big enough to be directed at both.

Exactly. This is what the Progessive/Liberal/Democrats want to do. They wish to eliminate individual rights and replace them with a socialism that expresses Progressive/Liberal/Democratic beliefs only.

The biggest trouble I have with that socialism is that it is strongly atheistic and strongly anti-Christian in it's current form. Christians are singled out as 'Extreme' and 'out of touch' right wingers who need more liberalism. It's gotten to the point where this administration is trying to label them as terrorists to be put in the jails at the very least.

So you are exactly right, it is an attempt at wiping out individual liberties and rights.

"I am dumbfounded that in the year 2012 we still are fighting about birth control," said Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York

"It is sad that we have to stand here yet again to fight back against another overreach and intrusion on women's lives," said Gillibrand, a Catholic. "The power to decide whether or not to use contraception lies with a woman, not her boss."
Dolan urges Obama to back down on birth control

And I am dumfounded at her ignorance of the faith she claims to embrace.

Wikipedia says she is a Roman Catholic.

When will the church use church discipline? Will it come after it is forced out of the United States? What does it take? An outright denial of faith?

Opposing your own churches key doctrines is usually enough in most churches. Why not here??

I hope 0bama tries to defend this one for a while; he needs to not back down too quickly.

He can't stop quickly without loosing his nutroots. The KOSaks, The DU'ers, and the Progressive Mainstream media will have a kanipsion fit.

Remember, he is campaigning in the Democratic Party. And the party is wild for abortion right now. It is their Sacrament.

I am amazed that ALL of the NY dems seem to hold this very same view. It’s sickening. I’m not Catholic but I truly feel the Church should excommunicate any and all of these bafoons.
