STOCKTON - The city has a tentative plan to combat climate change, more than three years after reaching a legal settlement with the Sierra Club and then-Attorney General Jerry Brown.
It wouldn't be cheap. If adopted by the Stockton City Council later this year, the plan could cost the city $28.5 million and could cost the private sector $240 million, the document says.
The plan itself acknowledges it would require "substantial effort on the part of the entire Stockton community" at a time when people are struggling to pay their bills and keep businesses open.

Some years ago, the company I worked for wanted to build an asphalt loading and storage plant on city of Stockton property (formerly a military base.)
The port supported the new business but by the time the state air board, the county air board and the neighborhood lobby got done with us, we built the thing in Reno.

If you make living expensive enough, you can get all the peasants to die!
Then Algore and the rest of the the ruling class can live in the Walden paradise they deserve!

Oh yes! By all means! It sounds like the perfect plan at the perfect time!

The private sector will leave the city. There will be empty business districts with abandoned buildings owned by banks after the property owners default. Zero tax revenue.

They already have left, the City is a armpit. I had a Business there for 20 years, closed it in l999. Was through there last week. It is a little Tijuana.

Actually, that pretty much describes Stockton now. If it weren't for the illegals, the place would be deserted.
Most of the illegals bought houses on liar loans and now are just squatting in the houses since the banks don't care about it. They cannot sell the foreclosed houses anyway.
This place is Detroit-West.

It’s going to cost a lot more when the city notices vanishing tax revenues after all the jobs vanish

Stockton is worse off than Detroit, just not as big.
It's crazy they would be doing everything in the power to drive the rest of the money and jobs outta there.

"substantial effort on the part of the entire Stockton community" In the same sense that Willie Sutton made lots of "substantial efforts" in his career.
