If he supporting pregnant women being able to kill their unborn babies and supported letting two men marry each other...I wonder if he would be “controversial”?

I doubt it, it’s amazing how they are raking him over the coals here - I guess they don’t read their own viewers’ comments.

The Tim Thomas story is a local story for me, and the zombies in the local media have made me apoplectic with this.

First it was Thomas declining a visit to the White House. The media shills are hyper-vigilant about any perceived lack of deference to The Won.

The fact is, no citizen is under any LEGAL obligation to accept an invitation to the White House. And furthermore, no citizen has to assign a reason for declining. Still less do they deserve to be grilled by the media for perceived “disrespect.”

Thomas didn’t belittle Obama in words. He just declined to accept the invitation. And the local media define his stated reason — that government is too big — as “controversial.:

What the hell are liberals, sexually unnatural spendthrifts?

Oh yes! Yes!! Give it to me, big boy — tax me until I’m penniless!!!

THAT’S a controversial point of view?

Now Thomas is defending freedom of religion under the first amendment. (In the interest of full disclosure I’ll state that I’m not a Roman Catholic).

And from the media he gets what?

“You have politically undesirable views, Comrade Thomas!”

“You must be interrogated by the Political Police so that you may be rehabilitated.”

I can’t help but recollect that when George Bush the younger was president it was considered patriotic to pour invective on his head as if you were pouring water on a burning barn.

Sickening, just sickening.

...so now if you take a stand on the conservative side of the fence; you're labeled 'controversial'???

FU, 25. Typical Boston BS.

If he is that corrosive to the Boston psyche, trade him. Preferably to Columbus. We need a goalie (BADLY!).

He is far more representative of the good people of Davison, Michigan than that fat Communist reprobate, Michael Moore.

Just posted by Tim on FB less than a hour ago -

“I’m convinced that today the majority of Americans want what those first Americans wanted: A better life for themselves and their children; a minimum of government authority. Very simply, they want to be left alone in peace and safety to take care of the family by earning an honest dollar and putting away some savings. This may not sound too exciting, but there is something magnificent about it. On the farm, on the street corner, in the factory and in the kitchen, millions of us ask nothing more, but certainly nothing less than to live our own lives according to our values — at peace with ourselves, our neighbors and the world.” - Ronald Reagan

I may have to start a Tim Thomas All- American Ping List!

That speaks to me, and many conservatives...just leave us alone, and let us live our lives without authoritarian interference.

During an interview in front of his locker after a recent Bruins game, I noted how Tim refused to answer non-hockey questions and invoked his Fifth Amendment rights.

Wait a minute ... A celebrity athlete who understands the Fifth Amendment? Who supports freedom of religion as guaranteed by the First? Who opposes an overreaching government?

Good lord ... an all-star celebrity who actually UNDERSTANDS and RESPECTS the Constitution!?! I am LOVIN’ it!!!

Any chance we could draft Tim Thomas to run for President? Even if he has no experience in politics, it would be a delightful change to have somebody in the White House who would actually uphold his oath of office.

Thanks for the ping, Sparky.

According to Wiki, Thomas was born on 4/15/74. Tax Day.

No wonder he thinks like a tea partier!

But he went to the University of Vermont, not exactly a hotbed of conservatism. Maybe he was too busy playing hockey to get involved with the moonbattery.

As to the comments on FOX 25... I don’t listen to the “conventional wisdom” in Massachusetts. Once every generation, the peasants rise up and tell the establishment where to stick it. Look at busing in Charlestown and Southie, or more recently, the election of Scott Brown.
