JFK, Monster (adult theme and language)
The New Repubic ^ | 10 feb 2012 | Timothy Noah

Posted on 02/10/2012 6:03:26 AM PST by rellimpank

I knew that John F. Kennedy was a compulsive, even pathological adulterer, given to taking outlandish risks after he entered the White House. I knew he treated women like whores. And I knew he had more than a few issues with his father about toughness and manliness and all that. But before I read in the newspaper that Mimi Alford's just-released memoir, Once Upon A Secret: My Affair With President John F. Kennedy And Its Aftermath, described giving Dave Powers a blow job at JFK's request and in his presence, I didn't know that Kennedy had an appetite for subjecting those close to him to extreme humiliation.

The likelihood that Alford is making this story up is extremely remote. She didn't come forward on her own. She was outed, partially in a 2003 Robert Dallek biography, and then by name by the Daily News, as "JFK's Monica," because when she began her affair she was a White House intern and a 19 year-old rising sophomore at Wheaton College. (In the book Alford reveals that Sally Bedell Smith was actually the first journalist to contact her--by phone, about a year before the Dallek book came out--and that she declined to speak to her then.)

Alford's story is entirely believable. She was an attractive, naive recent graduate of Miss Porter's School. Miss Porter's was also the alma mater of Jacqueline Kennedy and of a slightly older White House secretary named "Fiddle" with whom Kennedy was also having an affair, or so the First Lady believed--there was also a purported dalliance with Fiddle's close friend "Faddle," a secretary in the press office--and it isn't lost on Alford that this descendant of Boston's lace-curtain Irish had a thing for Social Register girls.

“Considering her age and naivete and Kennedy’s position and power, this was nothing less than child molestation and psychological rape.”

Are you aware your “Inner Liberal” is out of control and posting under your screen name?

At a certain age, females tend, as Heinlein so well described, to grow round heels and they keep falling on their backs”. The attraction of females for males with less than honorable intentions is something parents are all too familiar with.

Why else would the “Daughters are a father’s punishment for his sins with the girls of his younger days.” came from?

Lastly, women do have a genetic program which predisposes them towards powerful, dominant males. That evolvevd because being mated to such a male offers some ggenetic advantages.

‘Course, when the male is a Kennedy, it turns out that there is a downside to evolution’s evolved mechanism.

Even evolution can’t cope with deliberate evil.

Yeah, I dubbed KFK ‘evil’. Why? Evil is as evil does.

Judgmental of me?

So?

Reference the article, can anyone tell me what good things Kennedy did in his public life?

He chose LBJ to be his VP, thereby allowing Texas voters to elect a conservative Republican named John Tower to represent their state in the Senate.

Good things...for starters.......
From the Soviet perspective:

Bay of Pigs disaster (Bobby had to help out to make it a debacle);
Soviet Missiles into Cuba corollaries:
a)Withdrawal of missiles from Turkey;
b)Guarantee no invasion of Castro Communist Regime;
c)No invasion pledge allows Che Guevara to formet terrorism throughout Latin America until death in 1967;
Escalation of military aid to South Vietnam into full fledged War;
Complicit in overthrow and execution of President Diem;
Berlin Wall (Removal Thanks to President Reagan);

From the MAFIA standpoint:
Got beautiful MAFIA babe in White House so that “Deals you can’t refuse” can be implemented.

Besides being a classless boor the guy’s party controlled both houses of congress and he still couldn’t get most of his legislation passed. He left the poor cuban freedom fighters on the beach with a banana in their hand for Castro to annihilate. The guy was a total loser. Its still a miracle to me that he mustered the cojones’ to keep Russian missiles out of Cuba. If he hadn’t beeen assasinated he would be listed as one of the most mediocre presidents in history.

Who said I never made mistakes?

I certainly didn’t make the “mistakes” the Kennedy clan was known for.

I'll put it another way. If my sheltered 19 year old virgin daughter were bedded by the president just because he thought it was his right to have sex with anyone in his employment...I would be p!ssed.

Does that sound liberal to you?

“I was around, and an adult,” ...So was I and then some .. “during the fifties and sixties and the myths of the Kennedys (plural) began well before JFK was elected”.
The issue raised here is not the Kennedys per se. It’s the passes, winks and downright obfuscation of policy by the press.

I was around when Truman passed on Stalin’s suggestion that Korea be divided at the 39th parallel in 1945 and wound up serving in that war... Point is if JFK supported the Bay of Pigs there would not have been the Cuban missile crisis yet he’s depicted as facing down “the commies”

I was around, and an adult, during the fifties and sixties and the myths of the Kennedys (plural) began well before JFK was elected.

For one thing, he was credited with being the author of Profiles in Courage (New York: Harper, 1955). It was claimed that he wrote it while lying in his hospital bed during a severe illness, yet it was actually ghostwritten by his speechwriter Ted Sorensen.

Are you saying that she had not reached the age where she could discern between right and wrong?

I think that being hit on by the most powerful man in the world probably causes a 19 y/o girl's head to spin...and that might temporarily suspend her otherwise good judgment.

I find it disgusting that JFK would abuse his position of power and authority with a naive girl.

The Kennedy's, of course, have always abused their power. They think nothing of rape (or even murder in the case of Martha Moxley).

Does that sound liberal to you?

The following applies to peasant and President, alike.

Man proposes
Woman disposes

She did not say no, and while JFK seems to have had more than the normal share of bad behavioral predispositions, he was (to my knowledge) not the rape practitioner that Clinton or some of the other Kennedy clan appear to have been.

I hate to say it, but you sound much more like a liberal (a defender of JFK) than I do.

The Kennedy's are notorious for forcing themselves on women.

Using the office of the Presidency to pounce on a young woman (a recent grad of Miss Porter's BTW...naive and sheltered) is rape in my opinion.

You certainly sound like a permissive liberal to me.

The same applies to peasant and president?

I think you are teasing me.;-)

This is about power...the peasant has none, the president has the ultimate.

Having personally been poor and wealthy, I can assure you that a poor man and a rich or powerful man do not have the same opportunities for sexual adventure.

We agree on the opportunities for sexual adventures available to the wealthy.

But - if a prudent male desires not share his wealth with a feeding frenzy of land sharks litigating on behalf of a female , said wealthy male will not dispute the female’s decision.

In the instant case, I must draw your attention to the fact that the virgin continued the illicit relationship, for many, many, months.

Indeed, a case can be made that had JFK not been shot, she would have continued the relationship.

All she had to do was not appear when summoned. She disposed, JFK merely proposed.

“You certainly sound like a permissive liberal to me.”

When I was at Woodstock, yes. Oddly, that cured me of casual sex. And, may I note, I was far short of 40 at that time. One can become conservative earlier than 40, you know.

However, nothing changes the facts admitted to by the author. She continued the relationship. She obeyed the request for an oral sex escapade on a third party.

Why did she so act? I can only state that I have seen more females from good families than you would probably believe, do things that a mink breeder would not allow in a back cage.

When the hormone storm breaks, they just go ‘full female’.
