Lucas Papademos, the Greek premier, faced pressure to reshuffle his cabinet on Friday after five ministers and undersecretaries resigned in protest against fresh austerity measures imposed by international lenders in return for a second, €130bn bail-out.

Three resignations came as the rightwing Laos (People’s) party announced that it was pulling out of his national unity government.

Marilena Xenoyiannokopoulouaratzaferispademos, a senior socialist serving as European affairs minister, also stood down, saying she was opposed to labour reforms included in the package. Yannis Koutsoukos, the socialist deputy labour minister, resigned on Thursday.

Ms Xenoyiannokopoulouaratzaferispademos accused Greece’s European partners of “violating” the union’s own regulations on “the basic principles of social cohesion, collective bargaining and the autonomy of social partners” in a letter to Mr Papademos.

Xenoyiannokopoulouaratzaferispademos

Is that the real name or some typo from the FT? I knew Greek names can get convulted for a English speaker but that is taking it to an all new level.

The present day Greeks are lying deadbeats who have been jiving the Euro zone countries in order to get cheap loans to maintain the never ending frat party called Greece.

Hard working Germans, the well-dressed French and the other Euro zone countries should just kick Greece out of the Euro zone and make Greece live on what it produces and saves. The shock would also wake up Spain, Portugal and Italy to make them pull harder on their oars to keep the Euro zone moving ahead.

“A country with this, Ms Xenoyiannokopoulouaratzaferispademos, woman in power is doomed to fail.”

She stepped down because one of the austerity measures required her to cut her name to a manageable size of just one complete alphabet.

How much would you pay to hear a correct pronunciation of that name?

“How much would you pay to hear a correct pronunciation of that name?”

I actually already did (I have Greek speaking friends).

I’m not even going to attempt it. Not for amateurs...

seems those resigning are just upset that there be few do nothing jobs to hand out.

NOBODY wants to invest in greece because of the need to bribe make work agencies.
