New Study: Russian Astrophysicist Predicts Global Cooling
Junk Science . Com ^ | Feb. 1, 2012 | Habibullo I. Abdussamatov, Pulkovo Observatory of the Russian Academy of Science, St. Petersburg, 19

Posted on 02/12/2012 7:55:22 PM PST by Paul Pierett

“We can expect the onset of a deep bicentennial minimum of total solar irradiance (TSI) in approximately 2042±11 and the 19th deep minimum of global temperature in the past 7500 years – in 2055±11. After the maximum of solar cycle 24, from approximately 2014 we can expect the start of deep cooling with a Little Ice Age in 2055±11.” –Habibullo I. Abdussamatov, Russian Academy of Science, 1 February 2012

I don't fully agree with it, but He is at least tracking the change that is coming. We won't know for 30 years who is right. I will be 89, and in bed with....

What do Russians know about global cooling? I thought the Cold War was over? ::(

THAT is why I don't drink vodka. Russian individuals are fun people to hang out with, right up until they start toasting things and rolling around in the snow.

Global warming, global cooling....it’s ALL climate change, and “man” is responsible and should be blamed for driving SUVs and using hairspray....well, women can be blamed for the hairspray, not “man”....

NO!!!! I want another good solar maximum. The last one was great. I had good radios and worked the world. Talked from Texas to California on 5 Watts on 52.525 Mhz FM.

This one sucks.

I only have a potential for 2 more maximums after this (assuming they keep coming every 11 years).

If it's headed that way, anyone want to buy a Drake 4B tube set (RX and TX)? Needs power supply work. (mostly sarcastic)

I'm losing my hope for a decent cycle this time.

If you look at the solar cycles they are mimmicing the pattern of the little ice age - probably what this ruskie is looking at. I hope it is just a little ice age; as we are past due for a REAL ice age if one looks at the cycles from the ice core data.

I try not to look at the sunspot numbers these days. It makes me cry.

Back in the day, you had to go to a university to get year old sunspot numbers. Now you can get them online, updated by the minute.

I'm not sure we've progressed. ;)

Not too worried about an ice age, there are plenty of liberals around here to burn for heat... But good radio propogation, that's important.

some folks are suggesting we'll see a big drop in the next 10 years.

The only way we could get a real ice age is if something were to drastically warm the oceans, like the first ice age. That would require massive sub-sea volcanic eruptions world wide.

You would have liked my scholarly Uncle Ray...retired Colonel Army, fluent in 11 languages, CIA, DIA ........kept several bottles of Stolichnaya in his freezer ...and translated/traveled/and drank with Khrushchev on his stormy ‘50s visit to the USA. He could drink Khrushchev under the table. He could drink anyone under the table. I never saw him roll in the snow, though.

Notice in Russia, astrophysicists, who study the sun, are the most important climate scientists. In the West, computer modelers, who study simulations of the earth’s atmosphere, lead the field.
