Protests got out of control Sunday and Monday as Greek lawmakers voted on a new round of grossly unpopular austerity measures.

But even as leaders make new promises to curb government spending and get the country's economy back on track, Greece is beginning to look more and more like a war zone.

According to Bloomberg, Greek police said in a statement that 45 shops were set on fire, 67 people were arrested, 75 people were detained, and 68 police officers were hospitalized during the protests.

And while clean-up crews are working to restore the streets of Athens to normalcy, it is probable that the anger that fueled yesterday's riots has not yet been extinguished.

Next up, America! How many billions did Soros make off this? He makes billions on every failure. He has way too many mouth pieces on the insides that give him the heads up and he makes billions. The guy is a complete and utter crook. Obama’s daddy.

This is the after-effects of drinking socialist kool-aid over many years, and believing the propaganda.

Why is it we can’t “allow” the Greeks their Drachma?

And if he stays, too. At some point creditors demand payment, and free money stops flowing.

Amazing that Americans cannot see this hitting our shores soon. We are on the exact same track. Taking away the “free” stuff doled out over the past 30 years will be a challenge for our republic.

A very disturbing comment on a related page:

“[Greece] will simultaneously [with exiting the EU] impose strict capital controls to prevent capital flight. It will simultaneously impose strict capital controls to prevent capital flight. In our view, it is highly likely that [Greece exiting the EU] would be accompanied by the imposition of strict capital controls. True, the Treaty (Art. 63) forbids any restrictions on capital or payment flows between EU member states, but we think that an exiting country, facing massive disruptions in its international capital account transactions would need to impose strict capital and foreign exchange controls following exit if some semblance of financial order is to be maintained.” http://www.businessinsider.com/heres-how-greece-would-leave-the-euro-2012-2?op=1#ixzz1mHs5pFyN

To wit: producers are enslaved, prevented by force from fleeing a crashing economy - as if that would help. “Go Galt” comes to mind.

Because what they owe is in Euros.
If Greece leaves the EU by returning to the Drachma, the Euro takes a huge hit (10%, see link I just posted) and the newly-reborn Drachma has no value.

Imagine trying to pay back your creditors in newly-printed Mos, mo.

During the Drachma years the politicians were able to manipulate the money to have their personal fortunes baloon. It also kept them in power.

if the go back to the drachma they will be printing 1 trillion drachma note bills in 3 months.
