Axelrod: Santorum's stance on social issues 'are quite divisive'
The HIll ^ | 2/15/12 | Daniel Strauss

Top Obama political strategist David Axelrod took aim at surging GOP hopeful Rick Santorum Wednesday, painting him as a fringe candidate unlikely to appeal to voters after closer inspection. Speaking on CBS This Morning on Wednesday, Axelrod said the former Pennsylvania senator's economic policies were unlikely to win over voters. "I think when people really examine his economic policies, I don't think the average working person in this economy is going to look at his economic policies and say 'yeah, that's the ticket for me. That offers great hope for me.'" Axelrod said.

Obama is not electable.

Obama by himself is not electable. Obama + media + massive war chest + race card is.

Santorum has benefited from Gingrich and Romney tearing each other down while largely staying out of the maelstrom and looking good by comparison to his mudslinging opponents. Over the next few weeks we'll see how well Santorum can hold up under the Romney attack machine and then we'll have a better feel for how he might fare against Obama's built-in advantages.

Up to this point though, my impression is that Santorum has risen largely by being seen as a compromise between Romney and Gingrich, and not due to any great affinity for him as a candidate. Further, one of his "primary" strengths is also likely to be one of his "general" weaknesses. That is, his outspokenness on moral issues helps him with social conservatives here in the primaries but leaves him vulnerable in the general since we are no longer a socially conservative country but rather one that is becoming increasingly hostile to such views.

It says a lot about where we are as a nation but ironically Gingrich's infidelities might prove far less of a problem than Santorum's strong social convictions.

No it isn't... the bastard looks like hitler... he hates Israel... he is a socialist... and he would come and get all of us... including American Jews... if he could... and he may one day... and put us all into concentration camps and kill us for the same reasons that hitler killed the Jews... a scapegoat for the people to perceive as the enemy... and obama is doing that and has done that since he stole the last election... just like goebbells... he is a nazi... practicing the same exact evil.

RE :"That’s a good idea. But I kind of like this answer too."

I like it but I would fine tune it a bit, how about :" With real unemployment at ... percent and gas prices rising and houses being foreclosed on why are DEMOCRATs obsessed with starting new sexual revolutions as a major political issue right now?"

Have you noticed that according to Dems, Republicans are 'taking away things ' like contraceptives from women that Obama hasnt even taken from employers yet to give to women? Those mandates havent started yet.

Democrats 'frame' issues, Republicans FU issues.

Just as long as you can work in that “aspirin between the legs” part.
