While the GOP is preoccupied with selecting a candidate to oppose incumbent Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama is working hard to erase her image as an "angry Black woman" and promote her husband's re-election campaign along the way. While she is hoping that a series of television appearances will cement the unmarried mom and single women's vote for her husband, she is also obviously trying to re-sculpt her image into that of a pro-America, pro-military and patriotic mom who is fun-loving and pleasant to be around.
This last week, she has consistently been smiling and showing a positively treacly can-do spirit, appearing everywhere on daytime television and late night television talk shows. All this has been done under the guise of promoting her exercise and healthy eating campaigns on programs like Jay Leno, Ellen DeGeneres, Rachael Ray, and Jimmy Fallon.
In this election year, though, there is a whole lot more going on "under the radar." While still widely admired, Mrs. Obama has come under considerable criticism for her "angry Black woman" attitudes and her comments revealing, shall we say, a lack of enthusiasm about America and conveying an unseemly attitude of superiority toward mainstream Americans. Something had to be done before the fall election. Single women and unmarried mothers were an important voting block for the president in the 2008 election, but they show whiffs of disaffection with the president in the run-up to 2012. Even Oprah, who was a prominent supporter in 2008, has stayed pretty much in the background thus far in the 2012 campaign, though she has reiterated her support for the president. So, Mrs. Obama's uncontroversial issues of good nutrition and exercise provide her with a wonderful excuse to go on television to show her "softer" self to audiences that are predominantly women.

I’ve never thought of her as an “angry black woman”. I see her more as a glassy eyed, idealistic fantasist, so convinced of the rightness of her ideas, that she believes other people, with other ideas, are all wrong and must be made to embrace her ideas.
Were she to get it into her head that the Earth is flat and balanced on the back of a giant tortoise, she would be just as enthusiastic and adamant about the rightness of her ideas, ignoring all facts to the contrary, and passionately arguing that all other ideas are wrong and should not even be considered.
She calls this, “caring”. It isn’t.
The sad part is how many liberals both automatically agree with her, and try to enforce her poorly thought out impulses. This makes them come across a lot of the time like Klingons: “To control, to dominate. This is what is good in life!”
Oh, she’s angry all right, so her handlers counter-play that image by showing her off as a black woman who apparently dances at the drop of a hat.
All that natural rhythm... I’m really restraining myself writing this description, and what I’m pointedly not saying would all be true.
Certainly she should get some kind of award from
Biggest Loser, for losing 45 ugly pounds in a
matter of minutes, just look at her photos.

Yup, every woman in America wants someone to tell them what to feed their kids amd get their lazy kids out to exercise. That will be a hit for the election.

If they succeed all it'll take is a few replayings of her "for the first time in my life I'm proud of my country' because they've nominated my husband quote.
So 'uncontroversial' is when the Fed food police start inspecting kids' lunch boxes packed by their moms & deciding they aren't up to gov't standards (?).

I normally don't care what the wife of a pol looks like...but the media trying to stuff this “FIT, international style icon” crap down our throats makes me ill. She is not “fit” and she dresses like a fool. Her clothes are too tight, too “young” and inappropriate. No wonder Barry goes for the boyz.
