House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi said Thursday morning that the government should require self-insured religious institutions, such as the Catholic church in Washington, D.C., to directly pay for contraception and abortifacients.
Pelosi talked about the importance of women's health, and then said, "Yes, I think that all institutions who cover, who give, health insurance should cover the full range of health insurance issues for women."

Sorry about the double post -
also social justice democrats in power are liked by the social justice Bishops (Hubbard comes to mind) because they get gov’t money for their pet catholic charities projects. Follow the money. That is one major reason why this has taken so long to take care of.
Yes. Excommunicate her now, because her behavior leads others to sin.
And her bishop, by failing to excommunicate her, also sins, because he is an accessory to the scandal.
-—The cowardly Catholic church will not excommunicate.-—
Just to be precise, this is the decision of the local bishop.
But yes, it’s beyond doubt that the American bishops have collectively failed to excommunicate obstinately sinful politicians over the last 45 years.
It’s also beyond doubt that the practice has fallen out of favor. Why?
My theory is that this is a “spirit of Vatican II” error. Somehow, protecting the “bruised reed” has been used as an excuse for a lack of courage to apply fraternal, medicinal correction.
I don’t think this trend will change until the pope exhorts the bishops to move in this direction.
-—If they have the brains to know theyre sinning, theyre already doomed, and no amount of excommunication will intensify their hells.-—
True, but excommunication has a twofold purpose.
The first is communicating to the sinner the gravity of his sin.
The second is to prevent scandalizing the flock. Failure to excommunicate a public sinner teaches the flock that divergence with dogmatic teaching is permissible.
Yes, I understand this. But, as I’ve been lectured countless times, excommunication (a public bull) can’t be tossed around like a frisbee. The object of the bull must be capable of reforming, and the bull’s integrity must not be open to question among the faithful. Yes, this sounds like politics. But it’s also common sense. For all I know, Pelosi’s formal excommunication might not be seen as enlightening the faithful. Is she the leader of this movement? Would excommunicating her cause a change in feminist aims? I doubt it.
On the other hand, it’s a simple matter indeed to enlighten Pelosi publicly (as was the case when she declared that the Catholic Church was not a monolith). It’s also a relatively simple matter to refuse her and others Communion or absolution (which may already be the case—firm purpose of amendment as condition).
Lord knows, I’m as frustrated as you are on the subject.
“The eugenic and civilizational value of Birth Control is becoming apparent to the enlightened and the intelligent. In the limited space of the present paper, I have time only to touch upon some of the fundamental convictions that form the basis of our Birth Control propaganda, and which, as I think you must agree, indicate that the campaign for Birth Control is not merely of eugenic value, but is practically identical in ideal with the final aims of Eugenics.” -—Margaret Sanger

We are on the edge of social, political, and economic disaster, America. It’s time to turn off American Idol and Top Chef and pay attention..........
I soooo agree with you. The Pope should be looking for that form as we speak. There is no reason to keep these people in the RCC......I don’t understand why they keep them.
