Let's try to understand this here: Suppose, all of a sudden, a new President comes in to office and announces that his predecessors had engaged in a fraudulent scheme to hide the total US debt off the books completely. The US government now lacks the funds to pay off the true debt that was hidden. In response, China, to whom we owe the debt, comes in the dark of night, removes the President in the middle of his term by dictat, and replaces him with the guy who engaged in the financial fraud in the first place. All without holding an election. Now, replace "United States" with Greece, and "China" with Germany, and I think you'll see the epithet of Nazi, though politically inaccurate, is the result of a justifiable anger.

The following translation is from freetranslation.com-- Enjoy!

It is not much, what exports the marode Greek economy yet abroad. There is but an export pop song from Greece yet: MOCKERY, OUTRAGES, OFFENSIVE VULGARITIES! Over twenty billion Euro auxiliary moneys Germany accepted the Greek since 2010, is supposed to be decided over further 30 billions on Monday. GREECE CRISIS WOLFGANG SCHÄUBLE welcome in the reality Countless nights negotiated chancellor Angela Merkel and Treasury Minister Wolfgang Schäuble in order to preserve Greece from the collapse. And that thanks to out of the mouth of the Greek Präsidenten Karolos Papoulias (82) does not sound accept so: "I it as a greek that my country is insulted by Mr. Schäuble. Who is offends then Mr. Schäuble, that he Greece"? Therefore PICTURE says: Hurls the Greeks finally out of the Euro! A Greek newspaper shows Schäuble in SS uniform, Merkel with swastika bandage. Alexis Tsipras, boss of the radically left Syriza party: "Schäuble plays the same role, the German tanks in the second world war played". Aleka Papariga, boss of the communist party: "Schäubles demands are terrible for the Greek people". At the same time Schäuble merely said, what knows in the meantime every in Europe: Greece could become the "cask without ground". Of ALL Greek parties, the German Treasury Minister demanded a clear confession to hard savings measures – and harvests for that nothing as vulgarities. Therefore more and more German politicians see for the stubborn Greeks no the more future with the Euro. • Klaus Peter Willsch (Christian Democratic Union) : "we finally must conclude the tragedy. Greece has no prospect for in the Eurozone economic recovery". • Wolfgang Bosbach (Christian Democratic Union) : "under the conditions of the Euro it cannot create Greece. It is missing the country at economic strength, competitiveness and an efficient administration". • Christian Socialist Union secretary-general Alexander Dobrindt: "we must arm us for the case that Greece does not transfer the promised reforms. Then an emergency plan must grasp, comes that Greece out of the Euro retirement and an EU Marshall plan to the rehabilitation of Greece". • Frank Schäffler (FDP) warns even before that that "the protests in Greece turn over" into civilwars-like conditions. • PICTURE said appears Veronika bark man (Christian Democratic Union) : "now that everything entered, what critics predicted: The marode administration, the corrupt tax system as well as an incapable and indignant political class are no basis for structural reforms". And now also yet "the democratic Verfasstheit of the country begins to waver".

LOL! “Spott, Beschimpfungen, verletzende Pöbeleien” means something like “sneer, name-calling, invidious abuse…”

"is the result of a justifiable anger"

Nobody forced the Greeks to elect these corrupt politicians and nobody forced them to borrow the money.

The Greek people should be angry at their own, not the Germans.

“SPOTT, BESCHIMPFUNGEN, VERLETZENDE PÖBELEIEN!”

My translation software said:

MOCKERY, INVECTIVE, ABUSIVE PÖBELEIEN!

I guess it did not know what to do with “pobeleien”.

Sure they aren't Nazis, just good old fashioned imperial Germans.

Nobody forced the Greeks to elect these corrupt politicians and nobody forced them to borrow the money.

The Greek people should be angry at their own, not the Germans.

By the same reasoning, no one "forced" you and I to take on several tens of thousands of dollars extra in federal US government debt. Of course, the fact is someone DID force us, in fact several someones beyond our control in Washington who used the government monopoly on physical force to do so. And no matter who we elect, they keep doing the same thing.

The point is that simply unilaterally deciding that another country doesn't get to have elections for its head of state anymore, and has to instead have the head of state you choose for him, would piss off anyone, and rightly so. If it happened here, it wouldn't even be the debt, so much as the complete abrogation of our Constitution, that would cause a lot of people here to be up in arms. Literally.

And if you're talking about the amounts of debt they're worried about, compared to say 2008, its peanuts. It's nothing. Greece is inconsequential. All it means is that most bankers in Europe wouldn't get bonuses for a few years. So the European powers are refusing to allow Greece the logical and historically precedented right to default, solely so that a few wealthy bankers in Berlin, Paris, and London can keep their Ferraris. It's absurd on its face.

Probably it’s the German version of those big peppers the Mexicans like to stuff with rice and cheese and whatnot.

"So the European powers are refusing to allow Greece the logical and historically precedented right to default"

Untrue.

Greece can default anytime it damn well pleases as long as it is willing to face the consequences. There is no foreign army in Greece. There is nobody compelling Greek politicians at the barrel of a gun.

They can walk away at ANY TIME!
