Sorry, incorrect. The IUD prevents IMPLANTATION of a fertilized egg. It does nothing to prevent fertilization.
Fertilization occurs in the fallopian tube. An IUD is placed in the uterus to prevent implantation. Think of them as mini coat-hangers.

But you are probably correct about not being able to convince them. A guilty conscious is a formidable opponent. Using artificial contraception in contradiction to their faith would surely set up a conflict and I can see them taking out their frustration on a candidate who by his personal positions would magnify that conflict.

That being said, should God choose to intervene in this election and save our country, Rick Santorum is the most in your face candidate to Obama. His stance on life repudiates everything Obama has ever actually bothered to take a stance on.
I do think it would Divine Intervention for Santorum to win. But who knows?
You want to “get” people to see things as you do? I don't because I‘m satisfied with my vision. In addition, because of your and a group of posters’ relentless attacks against Santorum, I can't bear to even look at Newt. I can't bear to hear his voice. This is not anything against Newt, himself. I just get flashes of all those vicious posts, yours being among the most notable, and my automatic reaction is that I just can't deal with Newt. So, it would seem that your efforts have been counter productive, at least in my regard.

Regardless of the merit, I’m doubtful about Rick’s ability to actually affect change. His paternalistic disposition is a liability. He’s not Reagan, he’s not Dubya, he’s not Sarah. His fretful look of disbelief is gonna be a hard sell.
We need the entire constituency to take 2012, not just those gratified by Santorum’s talking points. Rush is wrong on this one.

Birth control pills and the IUD work on two levels. The first is to prevent conception. However if conception does occur, there is a fail-safe that raises the effectiveness of the pill or device. The lining of the womb is thinned and made hostile to the fertilized egg. The fertilized egg does not implant in the womb as it normally would, but rather continues to fall..........to death. Read the information provided in the pill prescription. Or do a yahoo or google search using the term abortifacient. You’ll find tons of information.

The "misinformation" is entirely yours, actually.
An IUD never prevents fertilization. It works by creating an inflammatory response inside the uterus that prevents implantation of the developing baby AFTER fertilization, which is to say that it causes an early abortion every time conception occurs.
The pill (and other hormonal contraceptives) essentially simulates pregnancy. Part of the time it prevents ovulation, and therefore prevents fertilization. But the rest of the time, ovulation (called "breakthrough ovulation"; Google it) occurs and implantation fails because the lining of the uterus is in "pregnancy mode," not "implantation mode" ... again, that's an early abortion.
(Read the package insert for any hormonal contraceptive if you don't believe me. They all mention this.)
