An Arizona sheriff running for Congress as a Republican denied accusations Saturday that he had threatened to deport an alleged ex-lover, a Mexican national. In the process, he also resigned from a volunteer position with Mitt Romney's Arizona campaign and came out as gay.
After a report published Thursday by the weekly Phoenix New Times, Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu acknowledged that he had a "personal relationship" with a man identified only as Jose.

Could this put Arizona in play for the good guys? And by good I mean NOT-Romney?
Wonder what Sheriff Joe thinks of this girly man and his illegal boyfriend? Not much I’ll bet. And he should have stayed on as a Willard’s co-chair. Willard loves to have sodomite support.
He should have known he would be made a spectacle after his fast n’ furious statements. (no pun intended.)
This guy was one of the real border security guys. He was almost Arpaio. Now this?
We all knew Moot has the homosexual support.
He's actually proud of this exposure. He started out the press conference with the Clintonian excuse about that being his personal life and has nothing to do with his duties.
And we wonder why we get shafted by politicians and business leaders. It would have nothing to do with their ethics as human beings - as though they are just automatons who can go through their “careers” naturally making proper ethical and moral decisions when they are immoral people.
Amazing.
I wouldn't be surprised if Arizona Republicans were totally ok with this - considering their obstinate support of John McCain. They'll probably vote Romney. One thing we have learned repeatedly about Arizonans as a majority - when their “Republicans” are given a clear conservative alternative (like J.D Hayworth) - they still give the rest of the union the proverbial one finger solute. You can always count on AZ to vote RINO.
I’m not a dam rino and supported JD big time.
Mclame pulled in “favors” is what we heard including our supposed conservative local radio station KFYI. Go newt.
I think Lindsay was one of the last tailgunners serving in the USAF ;-)
Let me get this straight. The article says he takes a hard line on immigration, but is having a relationship with a mexican national? I assume a Mexican National is an illegal.
This dude is finished. Stick a fork in him. He’s done.
C'mon girls!

Go pound sand, I supported Hayworth big time. And this Az Republican is not ok with Babeu having an illegal homo lover. It makes his stand on border issues seem like an act, and gives the other side all the ammo they need. You know where you can stick your RINO label!
Ton of stuff on the web about this guy. Interesting that as a child he was molested by a Catholic priest and in 2002 received a settlement for it.
He was also Headmaster of the Desisto School, a school for “troubled teens” with a tuition of 60-70 thousand a year back when he lived in Mass. His sister Lucy alleges he moved one of his former students(male) in with him when he left there after 2 1/2 years. Desisto was one of those residential treatment type places where the kids were kept essentially incommunicado from their families. When the school shut down in 2004/2005 they shipped the remaining 20or so students to a facility in Mexico. God help them.
Lots of horror stories from former students(23 pages worth!):
