The Left's Hatred of Religion
The American Thinker ^ | February 19, 2012 | T.R. Clancy

Posted on 02/19/2012 1:54:30 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

...JoanWalsh at Salon writes that she was raised Catholic, but has since turned into "a secularfeministliberaldemocrat." Last Friday evening, when Obama's supporters were still clinging to their belief that his announcement of a compromise would steal all the wind out of the bishops' sails, she asked this:

Why did we spend 10 days listening to prominent Catholics, including even some liberals and Democrats, insist that the White House had overreached and trampled on "religious freedom" - in this case, the "freedom" of the Catholic hierarchy to impose rules that even most Catholics don't live by? ("Catholic tribalism and the contraceptive flap").

Ms.Walsh can't imagine that Catholic rules being defined and preached by Catholic pastors without government interference is a matter of religious liberty, whether individual Catholics choose to obey those rules or not.

.........The progressive conceit is that human history is a continuum, clawing on vestigial fins inexorably away from abject ignorance and superstition at one end toward a science-based utopia at the other. Europe's atheists traced the pathology of religion to the neurotic imaginations of terrorized savages, and the result is that modern intellectuals routinely assign religious believers to the Neanderthal-Superstitious segment of human evolution. Today's American Smart Set expect the ultimate -- no, make that the imminent -- extinction of religion with far more certainty than they do all that cynical hooey about anthropogenic planetary destruction. But rather than go extinct, we survive, an anomaly, taking up space right there amongst all the iPhones, mice-cloning labs, and transgendered celebrities, the milestones of how far we've come.

Is it any wonder that when the Catholic bishops' balked at the HHS mandate, frustrated liberals had outbursts like this one from Rep.DianaDeGette,D-Colorado: "I woke up this morning in the 21st century, not in the Middle Ages." ("Contraception controversy consumes D.C., campaign").........

>>Nor the free exercise thereof.....

And what is the Roman cult of religionist eunuch’s track record for allowing the “free exercise thereof”, when it has state-established authority, hmmm?

What’s your preference, heretic — Would you rather be Burned at the stake or Drawn and Quartered for your “salvation”?

And, sadly, it is working. Our patriotism, morality and spirituality are being attacked constantly, on all fronts. I ask: with all the "talk" and "push" of and towards "progressivism," just what is it exactly we're progressing to? Look all around...we are truly rotting from within as a nation, a country, an American people. Our values, our faiths, our traditions are being blasted, belittled, ridiculed, bemoaned constantly.

Instead of things ever getting better, they're progressively getting worse! More corruption, more crime, more fiscal failure, more demoralization, more disease, more angst, more violence, more "give me/give me/give me - more me first," more attacking of religious freedoms, you name it...the list is endless on the path to destruction of which we are headed as a nation. Call me pessimistic, fatalist, whatever...but you can see it all around. The politicians are the worst for they are the ones culpable more than most for the destructive decisions they make and the influence those decisions have over the affairs of our lives. Sorry to be so gloom this a.m., but that's the way I see it.

“Hatred of Religion” ?

Not completly true . They like the fake “religion” of islmam which fits with socialisms as a totalitarian collectivism..

“Truth will make you free” ... That’s why they fear christianism and judeo-christianism.

And they try to use islam as a tool against christian societies and cultures

“I don’t pretend to speak for God, there should be a law that says if you could have, but didn’t produce children because of your selfish life style, you can’t collect S.S.”

I would disagree with the need for a secular law, however within your sentence there is a lot of profound information.

God does speak!

His children aren’t listening!

He commanded multiply and replenish.

Those who choose otherwise are a law unto themselves.

Those who so choose aren’t likely to submit to a secular law demanding production of children.

Social security is a secular law, but dependent on people living the higher law, regarding multiply and replenish.

We all see now the results of secular thinking, and secular law, as all things good depend to a degree on obedience to higher authority and His law.

The supposed good intentions of those secularists who claim overpopulation is bad, and that God didn’t know what he was doing when he created our habitation, are shown to be very unwise in their thinking.

This doesn’t begin to address selfish as a life style.

I make only one comment on the subject which is, “Spread the wealth around” is not something unique to Mr Obama, but found in the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth wherein we are taught to care for others as we care for our self.

Ok I need to make one more comment on the subject. Jesus taught other thinks as well, one of which says the idle and lazy don’t eat the bread of the worker. In so many words not an exact translation.

The difference between what Jesus taught, and what Mr Obama would demand through government edict, is found in the word tyranny.

The left hates religion and God’s moral authority for the simple reason that religion usurps power and authority from government. It is a power play, nothing more. Religion takes care of social needs thru charity, not forced “contributions”. To the statist this is a bad thing....

Conclusion.
1] These are the chief articles which seem to be in controversy. For although we might have
spoken of more abuses, yet, to avoid undue length, we have set forth the chief points, from
which the rest may be readily judged. 2] There have been great complaints concerning
indulgences, pilgrimages, and the abuse of excommunications. The parishes have been vexed
in many ways by the dealers in indulgences...”

modern intellectuals routinely assign religious believers to the Neanderthal-Superstitious segment of human evolution.

The Neanderthals were not religious, the Cro-Magnons were. The religious have a strong competitive advantage and were selected for.

Hate comes from envy and leftists are driven by envy. The left envies the competitive advantages of the religious. Essentially it is size envy: the religious have larger families, live in larger houses, drive larger cars, live on larger pieces of land, have larger pets, sometimes even own ponies and horses. Leftists also envy that the religious have competitive advantages in war, sports, and business. The religious in general live longer, have more successful marriages, and live happier lives. Any atheist can objectively measure this. The nature of envy is not to acquire the objects of their envy, but to destroy them. Leftists are evil.

“the Left’s hatred of religion”, except Islam.

That is the unholy marriage that is underway.

No, what’s Hogwash is some Eunuch parrot — dressed in the vestigial plumage from the Roman empire’s state established cult of Egyptian / Babylonian / sun-worshiping syncretism — propping itself up in the pulpit in between Me and my Creator.

That’s what’s hogwash.

The fact that “most Catholics don’t live by these rules” is a canard. The critical point is that the State mandating that someone go against their traditional religious beliefs simply to be a law-abiding citizen.
